That sounds about right to me.

I now have a fully rebuilt transmission in mine.

how does it drive now?

did u get it rebuilt by MV Automatics?

exactly what is involved with a full rebuild?

and, by any chance did anyone replace their standard trans oil cooler?

if so, im in need to replace my standard trans oil cooler. just PM me thanks!

I pulled my valvebody out on the weekend and sent it to Mike yesterday. There are sooo many bolts in there its scary. There are about 6 different kinds of bolts too. They are different lengths.

Drives very nice. Stock like when driven sedately. Harsh when driven hard. It is different though. Say you accelerate in 2nd to redline then let the throttle off but stay in 2nd. You don't get engine braking. The rpm just drops down to about 3k.

New bands, uprated servos, carbon kevlar bits apparently.

MV built it.

MV is in sa, i would assume that the r34 price is same as the group buy price. Mike gave me the group buy price for my z32. For those doing the vb them selves dont do the silly thing i did and leave out the selector ;). Many thanks to abo bob for helping me with this prob over msn ;).

Shift kit is awesome, i have tried out many things with my car running manual ecus, hks auto line controllers and nothing comes close. While they did a good job shifting firmly they did not respond fast enough, ie. i would always bounce off the limiter when manualy selecting from first to second. Now with the stage 2 shift kit it not only shifts even harder but is much more responsive, i can easily shift the gears manually with just a bit of a delay from when i move the gear stick. Like to thank 4door_Sleeper for organising and mv auto.

I rang mike on Tuesday and ordered one, and he called back Wednesday to let me know it was shipping out ! Really nice bloke, easy to talk to. Will report back next week once i fit it..

for you who dont know i work their with mike i have been their for just over 2 years now..

we do these kits all the time and highly recomend them.

i have one in my r33...

Changes are smooth when light throttle 3-3500 rpm other a bit of a bump but at heavy throttle and highers revs it's back to pretty smooth.

The thing now changes faster than the computer is expecting so the revs drop a bit much sometimes.

hmm it sounds like the 34 gearboxes dnt like the shift kit as much asthe 33??

abo bob do you think it is worth getting the kit?? seeing as you blew your box when you put it in i am a bit worried?

has any one else on here put it in a r34 tiptronic or just abo bob

so you are happy with the whole package?? i drive a large distance to work and need it to still be smooth when being driven normally.

you said something about it dropping revs too much?? are you using standard ecu?

sorry to ask so many questions but seeing as you have already done it i may as well ask.

yeah I'm in the same boat as mad34, but I am also going to get the high-stall modified while Mike is in the box. Are there any known negative side effects on life of the box or components etc? Later on I am going to get kevlar disks etc put in to fully strengthen the whole box.

Hi Andrew

Quicker shifts prolong the life of the clutch packs as they spend less time grinding away on each other. They also reduce the heat generated which is the big killer of autos. Make sure you also get a trans cooler fitted.

If there is enough interest we may be able to set up a group buy on the modified torque converters. (I am happy to talk to mike about this if there is enough interest - and as I need to do it to my 33 soom anyway.)

the 34 has a trans cooler fitted stock - I assumed all Skylines do!

I am looking to upgrade the cooler to a larger and more efficient one shortly anyhow.

      I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.

      Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.

      I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.

      Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
