Hey guys,

Two things.

Firstly, is it just me or isn't drifting very big here yet, I was on www.secretdrift.com which is in the eastern states and almost every weekend they are drifting. I was hoping that there would be more over here as i'm really interested in getting into it. We could like have cruises and make our way to the track etc. If anyone has any sort of info on it please let me know.

The other thing is that i'm in need of a drift car (cheap as I can't afford anything else) and i don't wanna smash my R33. I'm after maybe an R31 or even as escort, gemini, or datsun. Please tell me what you think.

its not so much a lack of interest..

its more a lack of willingness by the local providers of the tracks, waneroo are so utterly backwards and archaic in there thinking, that any new and exciting form of motorsport they tend to run and hide from..

collies a fair hike away, and the new airport circut, may one day do drifting, but atm, there not to keen on it, and theres not much you can do about it..

was in SA last weekend for the drift nats, and they've got it so good over there, pretty mcuh every week, legal drifto, and the SA sporting car club is right behind it and even considering making changes to the way mallala is laid out to make it even better for drift..

wish the WA sporting car club was like that..

ultimately, if you have 3.5k to hire the track, and then cash to get permits, you can run drift days..

id say waneroo will be a long way off getting a clue and realising its a good thing, instead of shunning it like everything else

Drift in WA - I wish, I wish, I wish.

I just came over from SA, and yeah its gaining momentum there nicely, as it is in nsw, vic and qld.

Does anybody have an idea of the cost of collie track? or contact details where I could find out?

Nice cruise and a bit of dorifto, might be worth organising as a monthly event, or even a one off.

As for a drifter, S13 manual would be the ticket for entry price, handling and cost effective, ie with very little mods and they handle very well. Plenty of parts around too. Thats MHO anyways.

collie have a track that people use....and the perth boys travel down and go nuts for a day.....there are competitions and all...... go to www.dorifuto.net and there should be some bits on some of the collie days....

They havent exactly updated the site in a while, does anyone know of when the next day will be at collie, might pop down and have a watch.

mate as a cheep drift car, just get a silvia, mine is a s13 det stocka, and it gets sideways nicely!!! mine was 5500k gemy or datto would b cheeper but mass body role and silvia's have good power to weight ratio's!!!

gotta have a turbo tho!!!

:kick:

AHAHAHA got to have a turbo AAHAHAHHAHAHA, have u heard of ae86?

guess you done watch alot of d1 hay

drifting doesnt need mods, the more mods the easyer it becomes to drift (my thread anywayz) for example to get a stocky r33 sideways (yes it is very possable and not just power-side) it is abit hard due to weight etc etc but if it had like a 400ps and a few sups mods i belived it would be soo much easyer.

drifting is more skill than anything i belived, if in the d1 a 175ps ae86 can out drift a 450ps s15, and a r34 4dr, soarer and chaser which all weight alot can also drift and place in the 10top what can i say.

ohh yeah turn wheels in slightly = camber

this has come up a few times, its not like we aren't into drifting, bloody hell half the car scene wants to drift to their hearts content but as mentioned there's bugger all places to do it.

And now with all that anti-hoon bullshit, most places are very reluctant to involve themselves in anything that will encourage hoon behaviour.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
