"(my car is good for 9s on slicks)

and there are no 10 second GTRs in WA"

and also, there are quicker holden 5ltrs out there.... in a straight line... i definatly wouldnt go a GTR, ide go a V8"

This is fun isn't it? I wasn't talking about on slicks. That's obvious isn't it? Whack big fat slicks on the back and get enough grunt and you will, as you say, go fast in a straight line. Put the street tyres back on and suddenly all that power doesn't compensate for the loss of traction.

Of course you will win burnout comps. Congrats, kudos, well done bogan, but who really gives a toss? Just about anything can manage a burnout, I've seen postie bikes do it for crying out loud. What does it accomplish/prove exactly?

No 10 sec GTRs in WA- so? Knowing they're out there somewhere must be niggling at you. Not that many GTRs in WA full stop to be fair: thousands of Commodores/HSVs slower than any GTR though.

"and an R34 GTR is just as big in size as a clubsport... and theres only 200kg weight difference...."

ONLY 200kg? That's quite a bit: about 15% in fact. And where do you get just as big from? Might not be a huge difference but I'll go out on a limb & say the HSV is longer, wider and taller. An R32 GTR is a tidler by comparison, that's for damn sure.

And they all have aircon numbnuts. My 1992 GTST has climate control aircon: SFW?. I don't need GPS, I know where I'm bloody well going, and I don't think leather is a measure of performance. As for the interior design, well, you like yours, I like mine. If that's the only thing you can really pick wrong with a PERFORMANCE car, maybe it's a sign you are trying to pick faults to justify your own car.

hhaha listen to you rice burners, lol

wanna know a funny story

When I was in melbourne, i was with the guys that where going on about GTRs n shit. And i started given em shit. and they said... ****ing fags that drive V8s are poofs... ***** ****s..we smash em.

"Mind you there dressed up as pretty boys, and probably wearing make up"

as we were waiting out the front of Level 1 Night Club, a VS SS drove past and they started shouting, ****ing Dinosaur, buy a GTR u *****'s.

The guys in the SS heard it, and went around for another loop, came back and got out the car, and grabbed carl (the biggest guy there, by the neck and procedded to raise his hand and thumble him)

Carl shat, and was nearly in tears. This guy in the SS made him scream out that turbos are gay, and carl did as told..... haah

you turbo guys are all new age soft ****s that drive gay cars, and talk about kws/kg and turbo timers and shit like that.... ****ing NURDS!!!!

hahaha, u really should see how u all look from my possition.... look GAY!!!!

And in one single post SkylineKiller has given all SS drivers a bad name.

Well done !

388Rwkw

11.75 seconds on street tyres.

Western Australia's, Skyline KILLER!!!!

That's not impressive.

Ever seen any Japanese drag racing?

Street registered and street driven GTR's, with full interiors, street rubber, and manual gearboxes all doing under 10secs down the quater mile.

Now that's impressive. Bugger off with your crappy stall converters and sticky rubber.

BTW, there are a few turbo kits coming out for the LS1 engine that make more power than any supercharger kit that you can put on that engine. So stop whining about turbo's being crap. Within the year there will be lots of LS1 turbos.

wil..

"...all SS drivers a bad name"

Not all. I've got a mate who just sold his VT s2 SS (Gen3 6spd, CAI & exhaust). Not a bad car all told, but for about $25k it was only slightly quicker than my stock R32 ($18k from a dealer, yes expensive but fresh import like new condition full 100 000k service just done etc) in a straight line.

We both drove each others' cars and there was no doubt for either of us that mine was in a different league around corners and under brakes. In the end, he was sick of the poor city driving fuel economy and lousy build quality by comparison. Everything works on mine like the day it came out of the factory: 3 of his electric windows had failed in the time he owned it and the car already had a small but noticeable oil leak. Go figure.

Sorry Jay, guess you were right. Now he's sold the car, he's not an SS driver anymore is he :) ?

damn i can't believe all of you managed to create a 3page thread on this in just a few hours.

95 GTS-T STOCK<---- only for $25000 out of your motor magazine is so full of shit its not funny so your source is already wrong. Now that doesn't even distinguish between S1 or S2 models. Every skyliners on here on here knows where to get a stock S2 95 GTS-T for well less $19K.

So quick chcek on autotrader.com.au 94-95 HSVs are going for about $19K aswell so lets get 1 of each and i'll drag you at Kwinana.

Lets do another comparison i'll get an even older car say a 1991 VSPEC R32 GTR stock which I can get for about $20K and you can have a 2000 model Clubsport HSV which from autotrader are still well over $35K and i'll race you.

Look 9 year technology difference as a handy cap and i'm still down a good 100Kws aswell or in more technical terms 1/3rd power disadvantage.

Comparing a 10 year old car to one thats just released why do commodore lovers specifically (not Ford people) always want to do this. Oh and since he can't get his hand off Supercars isnt it a FORD thats won the past 2 years.

And you know this guy can't back up and arguement when he has to resort to my car picks up more chicks and i can do better burnouts how damn laughable is that. And if you have to resort to that you obviously can't pick up chicks and you try to impress them by doing burnouts.

Oh and you live in Perth aswell i'm sure that i can be that guy who parks right outside the cott in the 5 min parking bay on a Sunday Sess with his Yellow Ferrari picks up a **** load more girls than you.

His car is slower than what yours claims and it doens't sound anywhere near as meaty as a V8 lug box but in 1 afternoon he seems to leave the Cott on about 5 separate occasions with 5 different girls, ****s em then ****s em off and comes back for another parking fine and to get another dumb bimbo trev loving bitch.

Oh at there are no 10 secs SKyline GTRs in Perth alone how more ****ing naive and ignorant are you. Go hunt down to 2 skylines with plates NEED4SPEED and GT-AAAH we'll then see how fast your high 11 sec shit box fairs.

and a 2 secs reduction if you had slicks to put you in the 9s ha obviously you haven't tried that and don't know what you are talking about.

hhaha listen to you rice burners, lol

Ok... Now you are are talking to all Turbo Owners.... is that right??? Are we all Gay??

Even your mate Eddy Tassone???

Warning to Turbocharged cars - Can your car do 100kph - 200kph in 7 seconds?

haha... you would be surprised... ;)

look the world is full of guys like this

i hope every one has noticed that he seems to like to call people gay alot and you will find that people who who do that alot are actually gay themselves

but thats ok with me just sounds like hes not alright with it

and did he mention how much money he has spent on this super fast holden

iv worked on a wide rage of cars since i started swinging spanners and its so easy to see the diference in quality between australian and japanese cars.

its all up to personal taist, if you want style, good technology and an overall nice car then drive a skyline.

or on the other hand if you belive that its still ok to make a vehicle in 2005 with a pushrod V8 designed in america 50 years ago then by all means drive a holden and enjoy it for all i care

just dont come on our forums making coments about things you know nothing about

this is just my oppion but id say i know a little more than this bloke

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.

    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
