Hopefully my semi-comps will be on very soon too :) (before AIR Dec 7th street meet)

I've got the Whiteline KCA349 kit fitted too. The car will still wheelspin but it does regain grip quicker than it ever did before I fitted the kit.

Having stock shocks is a big help in the weight transfer dept'! With nil suspension mods I managed a 2.1 60'.

The KCA349 whiteline kit is only $114 (3 pairs of different pineapples and instructions). I doubt you are going to get any discount on the purchase of only 2. But hey I hope you do.:D

If you guys are interested I can do a group buy from my source and do them for $95 a set delivered to your door with a special "Doctor Drift" instruction sheet, or if your in melbourne come pick them up for $90, and maybe get me to fit them while I'm there.... Only need 5 sets to get discount... I've already got an order of 3 from elsewhere.....

No they don't help 'axle tramp'. At least not unless you put them in the 'drift /wheelspin' config.

They help stop wheel spin and may actually induce a little 'axle tramp' / diff bounce /hop as a result of the back tyres grabbing.

Tramp is more a problem associated with leaf sprung rear cars. Like the old falcons/chargers. For that we used to fit tramp bars (usually nice chrome ones -- the old version of rice when fitted to a stock six cylinder).

Sorry dude, but you are way off there.... The "axle tramp" in skylines is actually subframe vibrations.... These pineapples DO REDUCE "AXLE TRAMP" in skylines in either configuration, and they also reduce wheelspin in grip configuration... The other factor is that they modify the angle of the subframe, similar to adjusting the angle in a 4 link drag suspension setup.... A few degrees difference alters the suspension geometry such that you will get more traction if you choose the grip setup....

I either configuration subframe vibration is completely eliminated... If "axle tramp" is still evident it would be entirely due to faulty shock absorbers....

As I've mentioned in a couple of posts, it reduces subframe movement "axle tramp", and also modifies the angle of the subframe and helps reduce wheelspin...

So I guess if you have no axle tramp, and no wheelspin, then you either don't need these, or need mor power??

Fair enough. I don't know if your experience is with stock shocks and standard spring rates when you suggest that there is no 'bouncing'. Sub frame doesn't vibrate btw, it contacts the bumpstops, I marked them to find out with white ink (liquid paper). I since removed the front section of the pineapples (I'd only just put them in - doh!) back to my half a setup until/if I get firmer setup for the rear.

There is less clearance to the bump stops when the car squats thanks to the geometry change. My shocks are in good servicable condition ,tho' stock, and it never 'bounced' before (exactly the same behaviour as axle tramp tho' technically not the same thing I guess). There are other stock suspension lines that have the same symptoms (none of them have faulty suspension).Rob77 for instance. The only 'fault' is not having a firmer suspension than stock. But, hey I know that, we used to put in extra leaf springs before resorting to tramp rods. If you take away the compliance in the stock cradle mounts then the energy's got to be absorbed/transfered somewhere else, poor old stock springs and shocks.

Interestingly I guessed that I might get 'axle tramp' before I had even put them in because every time I have started down the path to rear wheel traction in past cars this has been a good sign that you are on the right track.

I've actually installed these in quite a few cars from 180's to R32's and even an S15... And in all cases axle tramp was reduced or eliminated.... I don't think any of them had the stock shockies in them however... so that may be it??

You say you're using the whiteline kit correct? I heard these are a three piece set... Do you know the thickness of these three bushes so I can compare the to mine??

Perhaps you could also explain the different geometry setups whiteline suggest? maybe there's something there and we're not comparing apples to apples if ya know what I mean??

I think we are talking the same language. The stiffer shocks/springs reduce compliance in their own way but as a result perhaps the energy resident in the subframe mounts without the kit cause excessive movement in the diff cradle. Adding the kit in any form reduces this compliance/movement and eliminates the 'bounce'. I guess like everything its a case of the weakest link in the chain. :P

I'm afraid mine wont be much good to measure after getting installed they are bound to have squished down a few mm or so.

You can get a pdf off the whiteline web page I think with the install and specs?

I have about 300rwhp

I cant better a 2.5 60ft with the HkS suspension not giving at all, 18psi tyres just light up and i cant get a medium between Wheelspin launch and bogdown and 2nd gear likes to send me towards the other lane...

The other thing is can you hear them? Any noise or driveability problems? or dont you know any difference

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
