Sorry 26GTS,

When I said control and feel I was suggesting unusual conditions. I.e gravel.

You are correct that it does take a lot to lock the brakes, but when you slam the brakes on they are very easy to lock.

Only yesterday I had a loony P plater pull out in front of me that was so close I could see her earings. I locked the brakes instantly as I attempted to swerve, after what was probably around 1/4 of a second I unlocked the brakes and turned to avoid her.

In the VS with ABS the close call would have been much less of a close call due to being able to instantly turn without the front wheels locking for that fraction of a second.

It would be good to compare the reaction time of ABS vs the human brain of 200ms and work out the distance.

I would think the ABS will react quicker to a lock than the human brain.

EDIT: On Topic. :)

You will need to change the Diff?, or is it only the driveshafts?

Joel,

couldnt not agree more especially about the brakes not being that hard to lock when you(have to) slam on them.

Also you raised a point i had been considering mentioning but thought it might go over to many heads, that is with abs the point is not only to stop in a shorter distance but also to allow you to steer around the object you are braking for....

BTW i get you about the gravel :)

ON TOPIC:

Joel: Why would u need to change diff/driveshafts?

Those contemplating the installation: Sell the car and buy one with the abs, if u hate that answer heres my real 2 cents worth.

Theres alot to change over, including the front hubs/sensors etc. Even if you machined your original ones to take the sensors theres a round thing inside the hub that the sensor reads that is obviously not in the non abs ones.

Add that onto the cost of buying all the other parts and the labour and id say your would be better stripping anything off your car you want to keep and sell it/buy one with abs. save some $$$ not to mention time and an installation that may not be as good as factory. What i really mean is that u dont want to go to the trouble of doing all this then have the abs system not work properly/give errors. Where woudl u start lookg for problems then..... :headspin: :headspin:

Change diff/driveshafts.

ABS rear sensors. Are they located on the outer of the diff with the Nissans.

Generally I've seen the ABS sensors located on each side of the diff.

A gear looking thing that is located inbetween the diff housing and the driveshaft.

The setup I saw used an optical sensor of some sort that watches the gear's lugs go round and round. :)

Hard to explain, hopefully you get what I am trying to describe.

Gotcha joel, thought thats what you were gettting at but i was assuming the back would be the same as the front, ie. sensor goes into hub. I will look in the next week when i have my car up on one of my two hoists :)

will take some pics if anyone is interested....

See ya, 26GTS :)

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
