Guest 3LIT3 FORS3.
can u please reply to my PM re: specs asap. thanks

I have been trying to get the exact specs from him but he is in Perth at the moment. I spoke with him and he told me that Garrett told him that if it was not EXACT....it was the closest thing they had to it. He assured me that if it wasn't EXACT that it would be so close you wouldn't know the differance. I will still try to get the exact specs for you if it is that important to you.

Ok People Dans been Banned for spamming and I am acting as his go between. If they are serious people wanting a turbo still post it here and I will make sure he gets the inquiry and post his reply for him. If it comes to direct contact you can go through me for detials.

I just want to say that it is crap that Daniel got banned, a warning 1st should have been in order.

He is a top bloke and has done nothing but be a postive and helpful influence on SAU.

Keep your chin up Daniel ... you are always welcome around here, regardless of what some admin in Sydney seems to think

Well, when strutto mentioned Blitz I realised I had already been warned a few weeks back. I had forgotten about it until his name came up. I probably deserve the ban......but for 31 days. That is ridiculous! A week tops, who let him into the world. Oh well, I'll have to deal with it I guess.

I banned him. If you have a problem with it, feel free to pm me.

He was given a warning, and for more than just his spamming so before you jump to conclusions and start criticising me or other admins, make sure you have all the info in front of you.

People are warned if they are breaking the forum rules. If they continue to do so, or deliberately choose go against what moderators have requested, they can be banned.

While the info and deals provided by Daniel were useful, his attitude when asked to stop spamming and get his act together were completely unacceptable.

Furthermore, Daniel only received a 1 month ban. This would have passed and that would have been the end of it however joining again immediately and sending smart ass pm's and making a mockery of our ban system isnt doing himself any favours

Favours. I do more favours for these forums than they have ever done for me so don't talk to me about favours. Get your head out of your arse and face reality. So I posted a couple of messages that were the same, well actually I don't think any of them were identical. Please post the official definition of Spamming and give me a good reason why 1 month is appropriate when that equates to 40 warning points. I have never received ANY warning points before and if you wanted your warning to be official and, therefore, count as anything, then you should have placed a warning against my name. I consider this to be a personal attack by you because we had a very small argument about my friends car that was for sale. I got over it, so why don't you.

Also being a personal attack you would be breaching forum rules. I am happy to accept a ban from you, just not for 31 days.

You are the one making a mockery of the banning system, not me.

FWIW I'm with Blitz on this one... I don't have anything against Dan at all - think hes a great bloke - but forum etiquette is what keeps us different from ns.com, et al...

You've spammed shit about some Stagea for sale once before too Dan and I guess Blitz has just had enough...

Take the ban as a warning to cut it out, get over it, and move on... Maybe it was excessive, maybe it wasn't... Doesn't really matter... Tis done now, don't cross the lines again and it won't be a problem again...

This thread is closed... If you want to talk bannings / personal attacks / etc., do it via PM please!

Daniel, again this is nothing personal on you, other moderators, not just me, are also jack of your attitude towards being asked to follow rules.

I am a more than reasonable guy, so much so I tried to pm you last night to discuss this in a mature mannor. I will always happily discuss the ground of anyone being banned however you going out of your way to be a complete smart ass to me wasnt called for and its because of reasons like this that I dont see why i should unban you.

Your issue with me started because you disliked the fact that I pm'd you about and closed a thread advertising the Stagea. I was initially unaware that it was your fathers car, and although the rules that all moderators have to follow clearly state that posting on behalf of others isnt allowed, I would have made an exception without a second thought had you simply pm'd me and explained politely that it was your fathers car. Everyone has to follow the rules here but I get the impression you feel that you are above them.

Stuffed if I know why im bothering with what im about to say, maybe its the fact that you have been a big help to members of the QLD forum but I will unban you if you are prepared to email me to discuss this in a civil mannor.

But understand that I am doing this purely as a gesture of good faith to show you that this isnt some personal attack and contrary to your view I am a very decent guy.

However, if you persist in acting like you have, next time the ban will not be lifted.

Everyone reading this is seeing that I am going out of a limb to try and resolve this issue, so dont disappoint by again telling me to "pull my head out of my arse"

Fairs fair - enjoy the forum and respect the job that moderators are here to do.

My email is nick at skylinesaustralia.com

Daniel, I think Nick is being very fair and reasonable with his offer.

I spoke with him on your behalf via PM last night and have gotten the whole background story and your replies to him.

I too have been warned once and I also took it personally at first until I sat back and realised that it was in the best interests of myself and the forum to not take it personally as that was not how it was meant.

Life goes on and working things out is always the best way, instead of getting your back up about it and involved in some kind of flame war that you can't win.

Nick has made an offer of concilliation when he doesn't have to, I think it would be reasonable to take him up on it. We all make mistakes, so do you learn from the mistake or carry on doing the same thing?

Cheers Chris

Congrats Dan glad to see that you worked out the problem.

Now thats over I have a pointless question about turbo sizes.

When you specify a size for a turbo you use, say 0.84 this size I am assuming is the housing size, or more to the point the diameter of the inside of the housing? And this sizing is in imperial decimal eg 0.75=3/4" if not (and I dont think its looking at the turbos) what is it? Thanks

Terry

ggod to hear Daniel,

Nick is a good guy, I have a lot of respect for him after the way he has handled this and a lot of respect for you for acting like an adult and working it out with him.

Cheers good luck with everything

Cheers Chris

Pointless question:

If I gave you a stock r33 turbo with a snapped off exhaust wheel, (Not because of overboosting, it was damaged while it was off the car) how much to high flow?

And what are the benefits over running my stock turbo?

Is the shaft snapped or just the blade? the cost of a highflow is proportional to the condition. If it is in good condition then you would be looking at somewhere between $1200-$1600 depending on how tough you want it.

Depending on the series of R33 you have, if it is still a ceramic exhaust wheel then the benefit is that you can run higher boost more safely and mid to top end torque can nearly double. You can really feel the difference between a standard and a highflow.

Hey man,

I've got an R31 GTSX with the red top (nics?) RB20DET and was wanting a direct bolt up replacement turbo. I'm after something bigger than standard but nothing too crazy. Like a high flowed T28 or T25 or something. Need something soon.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Grae

A GT25 and 28 both have a T2 flange for the exhaust housing so they won't just bolt up. You need something like a GT3071, they are much bigger than standard but not crazy. It is rated at 400-450 hp. It is available in a 0.63 A/R and 0.82 A/R. They are $1950 but I will have to confirm this just before purchase as the prices change slightly all the time.

    • Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. Got the seats out (hoping I could find some existing grommets but no such luck). By tapping and measuring etc. I could figure out where I could drill through if needed. But first I borrowed an inspection camera and managed to go through factory holes in the chassis rail and could see that the captive nut was holding steady which is why it could retighten. So it was indeed a stripped section of thread, so I applied downforce by levering the bolt head with a screwdriver and went slowly back and forth until it came out. Camera helped a lot cos I could monitor that the captive nut was holding tight. Now I just have one very seized main subframe nut to tackle 😅
    • BOVs do have a purpose, if you ever log pressure before and after the throttle body, you will see a spike pre throttle on lift off from a WOT condition. Enough to bend throttle blades / damage e-throttle motors or simple assist in blowing off cooler pipes. FWIW, the above on really applies to those running at least 2 bar of boost. OP shouldn't have an issue, on the other hand, here are some videos of my shit box over a decade ago with some succulent dose with the airbox on and off. That shit box is unrecognisable these days 🫠
    • I've tried all different combinations of BOVs/ no BOV and stock bypass valves over the years, on gear changes the stock bypass valve seems to get the car back on boost quicker because in part the turbos wheel speed isn't being slowed down by reversion, although they have issues holding boost much over the stock setting. Most aftermarket BOVs you can adjust the spring, tighter will make it open later and close sooner, but in my experience it'll cause a bit of flutter at low load/rpm anyway. I've also got some input into this whole no bov causing turbo wear, never had an issue on any on my turbos HOWEVER, I got my R33 GTST with 200k kms on it, with from what I can see still has the original turbo, no lateral shaft play but has about 4-5mm of play in and out which to me seems like a worn thrust bearing from years (100-150k kms?) of turbo flutter running no bov, so maybe there is some truth to it in the long run. But that'll never stop me loving the Stutututu while I have the car.   OP just wants to know if he can run a atmo vented BOV with no major issues and the answer is YES, plenty of people do it, there's no harm in installing it and seeing how it runs before spending $$$ on an aftermarket ecu, last time I bought a Nistune it was $2400 for install and a tune , unsure of todays prices but you get me. Crazy money to spend just to fix the minor inconvenience of stalling that can be overcome by letting the revs come down to near idle before putting the clutch in or a little bit of throttle to avoid it. You're better off leaving the ecu and tune for after a bigger turbo/injectors have been installed to take full advantage of the tune and get your moneys worth.   Let OP have his Whoosh sound without trying to break his bank haha
    • I see you missed the rest of the conversation where they have benefits, but nothing to do with avoiding breaking turbos, which is what the aftermarket BOV made all the fan boys, tuners, and modders believe was the only purpose for them...
    • But they do so for the other reasons to have a compressor bypass. It's in the name.
