5 votes all. It's a close one.

I reckon people who vote, but then don't come to the dinner shouldn't be allowed to vote for 2 months...

:werd:

How come we always have like 15 voters and 5 people at dinner? :(

We'll make these polls open from next month onwards, so we can keep track of who votes and then pulls a no-show :kick:

BAN!

Lane Cove is so so much better than R&R!! Great prices, large servings, plenty of parking, great service and most importantly the meat is EXCELLENT!

I just find that R&R is a little on the pricey side for the service and quality you get!

You won't be disappointed defecting to the Lane Cove River Steakhouse contingent! :(

Lane Cove Steakhouse's steaks are............ meh. Nothing special. They're just like the big-ass $5 steaks you get in any pub. Size isn't everything. They aren't good cuts of meat, and the two times I've been there, they've been cooked tough and chewy.

R&R may be expensive, and the service appalling, but the steaks are excellent quality, perfectly cooked, juicy and tender.

WERD UP MY N1GGA.

R+R's steak is tha shizzle, but comes at a price.

Lane cove is not bad. the time we went there for SAU dinner it was really quite good. I went back not long after that and it (the steak) was below par. not the greatest cut, and not expertly cooked.

if we are going to go steak I say we go the whole hog and do R+R. on the other hand, LCR SH is ok by me too, just not my first pref.

EDIT: f**k I'm getting hungry for a steak right now...

mmmm Steak

I have been to R+R about 10x in Manly and 5x in Gordon in the past 3 years.

I agree with Andrew, they are a top steak house....but they are expensive, not BYO, service is average (in Manly) and the parking sux at both locations.

I have only been to LCR SH twice and they were what I would expect for the price. They are not unreal, but the food and service is good.

If I had my choice we would be always going to Thai Orchid....cheap and tasty with great parking:wassup:

Come on Mal!!!

You can't keep going to the same restaurants, no matter how good they are. Lets branch out and try some new things. We should limit Thai Orchid to 3 visits a year. That's once every 4 months. I would suggest only twice a year, but I'd probably be gunned down by all the TO-fanatics in the crowd

Remember that we only get 12 monthly dinners a year, so lets diversify our restaurant selection :) There's no need to keep going to the same ones surely! Malabar was an excellent recommendation, lets keep the variety coming!

And in aid of this new-found adventurousness, does anyone know of any other GOOD steakhouses other than LCRSH and R&R?

oh fcuk yes...............

I was looking for that pic you had of it to post up again, but can't find it? I'd swear you posted it up in the TAS pics thread?

yeah I think 3 times to TO would be enough.

I reckon after this months steak expedition we do Jap next. Teppanyaki  or, would could try the new branch of Makoto. For those that don't know Makoto is like an upmarket version of sushi train. it's on liverpool st in the city but they've now opened in chatswoo. I am partial to teppanyaki though...

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
