Well my girlfriend was trying to convince me for some time now to let her drive my R32, and i kept getting out of it with all sorts of excuses. She just wouldn't take NO for an answer.

Well she finally convinced me, and 5 minutes later, she hit the gutter. She wasn’t going fast maybe 20 km/h so I didn’t expect much damage.

I tried my best not to get upset and even after assessing the damage on the wheel i was still ok, but then I started driving the car home and the steering wheel is off centre. GRRRRRRR.

So what could possibly be damaged?

Would a simple 4 wheel alignment fix the problem?

Can any place like Peders do the wheel alignment on a Skyline or maybe i should go somewhere else?

Also, can they check if my steering wheel is properly aligned coz I’ve been having a few HICAS issues. The steering sensor is not on 12-6 o’clock . It’s more like 10-4 o’clock.

I know f**k all about suspension so any help will be appreciated.

A Skyline is a lot diff at the front than a S13 having a double wishbone front susp setup. There is also a good chance that you've also bent a control arm. Take it to a more specialist suspension place so they can measure everything up then get the alignment done.

yeah id say ure alignment is just knoocked out...........

walk up to your girlfriend and slap her with the bill !

then tell her she is too only sit in the passenger seat and do nothing else!......

if u do this she will neva ask about the car and it wont come up in conversation.....hahahah

You won't just knock the alignment out.

Something under there is bent, simple as that.

Either make her pay or kick yourself for taking the risk.

Back to the car though, go get a 28 point inspection at pedders or any other suspension shop for the full report.

Geezzz....glad i never let my gf drive my car.....just confirmed my fears of doing so. but yeah....in regards to the car, id say its not just an alignment issue, how fast and hard did she hit the curb....must of been a bit of an impact to cause suspension damage.

Thanx for your help guys.

I think i'll just take it to the Peders 28 point obligation free inspection to see if they can pin point the problem and I'll take it from there.

If it's a bent steering arm, can they fix it or it has to replaced? Cost?

I've learnet my lesson but I wont be taking any money from her. It wouldn't be nice but she is much nicer when she's feeling guilty. :)

My other half has had quite a bad run with my cars in the past. :)

Car Number 1.

My Super clean N/A VL 5speed.

It was so clean it was like it just rolled off the factory floor.

I let my other half drive, she was learning at this stage.

Joel: Sit back, there's no need to sit so close to the car in front.

Julie: Its ok I won't hit him.

Joel: Its just a matter of time.

At that moment Julie looked over her shoulder to check her blind spot.

arrrrggg the car in front broke and we cliped his rear bumper ripping off my plastic fantastic VL front bumper. :) No body damage luckly.

Car Number 2.

Almost bran spankin new VS 5ltr 5speed Exec FE2, SRS, ABS, IRS Commodore.

I only just got the car back from a few mods.

I spent a lot of $$ on that car.

Full Whiteline suspension kit, Adj. swaybars the whole lot.

3.5" exhaust (single straight through muffler that was no bigger than a shoebox), pacemaker extractors, mild cam and had the ecu done. (Still made stuff all power) lol

I was replacing Julies parents brakes on their VN commodore.

Julie: Joel, I'm going to wash the car.

Joel: Yep ok.

Julie walks over to the second drive way and starts the VS.

The sweet V8 brup brup brup I hear.

Next minute I hear the VS still idling but slowly getting further and further away. :(

I look up and see Julie starting the car behind the VN that was in the drive way. At that moment I hear an almighty BANG and a distant sweet brup brup brup sound. :)

OMFG I thought.. I looked across the road.

The damn car had rolled down the drive way, some how bounced around a parked car and hit the house across the road!!!!.

I'll finish it there. lol

she mite have bent the steering arm best solution put her in the back and your pet dog at the front and crank up the music

Hahahaha, I did that with my ex...thus the ex...

I actually bought the line off my girlfriend...so she drives it whenever, I have actually damaged the thing more than she has...( I bent the front bar in a paddock, yes a paddock dont ask...)

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
