okkkkkk big dramas with my car!!!!! need an idea of whats happened i thort i knew but here goes..

b4 i begin some info on my car.

its an 89 model gtst completely stock when i got it never modded with 75,000km

i have boosted her to 12psi, 3 and a half inch exhaust all the way, and a blow off

welll about the dramas, they started about 3-4 months ago? my friend was driving my car without me in it, he pulled up to a set of lights put the car in second, forgot it was in second then tried to rack it up revved her upto some rediculous amount and dumped it and rode the clutch like a bitch nigga, any way he smelt the clutch hard and then it got stuck in gear or something? then wouldnt go back into gear any ways, he pumped the clutch a few times and kinda went back to normal, she drove alright for a lil while but then one night she just started going, slipping like crazy, and could smell the clutch burning heaps, kept slipping more and more till she couldnt slip no more and couldnt get up hills and then couldnt get off any where.

now what happens, i turn her on, by touching her ignition;) :PP yurr and put her into gear but she dosnt go any where, pull the clutch out dosnt move, just sits der dosnt stall, i can change gears with out pushin in the clutch pedal asif the clutch is in?!!! and i can hear the gearbox clicking like it would normally, the clutch im guessing is the stock one from when it was made, same as the box, any one ever have anything similar happen or know whats going on? some one told me if the clutch was completely gone it wouldnt go into gear?

help pls i wanna fix it and i dun wanna do anything till i know what sure is wrong and i wanna avoid towing her around every where to get it checked out!

no it does go into gear, i know a bit about cars, but i havnt had that much experience, iv had a clutch slip on me b4 and shit. what happens now is it goes into gear fine even without the clutch in, too me it feels like the clutch could be stuck on? i dont think the gears are gone because it was slipping and started slipping more and more in one night and then just didnt go no more

while trying to feather her back home the car was just revving upto whatever revs and moving like a slug and slipping heaps and i could smell the clutch really bad

i leant ma car to my ex gf's bro dat day and when it came back that was what happened he reckoned it just started going and he wasnt ****ing about, his older bro also had the same story

Well thinking about it logically. If the clutch is no longer engaging properly, then the car may be acting as though the clutch pedal is permanently depressed. Can you roll the car with it in gear, eg try pushing it whilst in gear.

It's obviously something to do with the clutch....get it on a tow truck and take it to a reputed import garage close to where you live. Either way its going to cost some dollars to repair.

The stocko organic clutches are pretty weak....and considering the age of your car it may not have taken to kindly to a 12psi boost setting.

Grab a single plate Heavy Duty ceramic clutch to replace it or if you don't have the cash, source a stocko replacement.

Good luck mate.

u'll need to be more specific and clearer with your language..

but from what i can gather... it seems like your clutch is

a) gone

B) the clutch fork (?) has come loose. the thing that engages the clutch.. not sure, it happened

to a mate of mine.

if i can roll it while in gear what does this mean? im gonna go try

3 things

a) your clutch plate is COMPLETLY burnt out and stuffed

B) there is a problem with your clutch hydralics leaving the clutch jammed on

c) the clutch fork has half-come off the pins, and has jammed in place

check b/c by getting under the car and looking at the clutch fork/slave cylinder and see if there is any pressure on the clutch fork, with your foot NOT on the clutch there shouldnt be any "real" pressure. get someone to press the clutch pedal in the car and see if the fork/slave cylinder rod moves

my money is on (a) thou

if u got no fluid

when u get under the car u will find that the piston has poped out of the bore of the slave cylinder

and that the clutch fork has come loose (there is a 90% chance this happened also, ull need to pull the box to fix it)

u may think this is speculation but ull see im right when u get under the car and look

    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
    • I'm so far behind in the jobs I have to do at both work and home (including car) that I have become immortal. There's simply no way that I can die now.
    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 🤣, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
