Rejected Rego! Need Help

well i was on my way today after 3 months of having my car off the road due to importing it to finally getting rego for the car.

come inspection day and i have all my papers and everything. inspection is done and then they decided to reject my rego for three things

1. momo steering wheel

2. hks bov

3. pod

now i have to start from square one and get all my papers re-issued :hellpisd:

if any1 can help me with these items it would be really appriciated if you could help me out. i have an r32 gtst

The Momo wheel should be ok, if it has the appropriate sticker on the back (like a price tag sticker with an approval number on it). The filter & BOV are technically modifications under ADR27C which makes them unlawful.

the inspector guy was telling me he wanted to see a streering wheel with padding in the middle

the momo on i have is just a standared momo with a red ring and horn

also he wanted to see the H patter on my gearstick

If you can get the same wheel here - with the approval sticker on it, then you should only have to produce that as evidence of compliance. AFAIK there is no law against having a worn knob.... :-)

but unfortunately they already booked me into the same office in 2 weeks.

looks like im going to have to do it the right way and get it done asap...

either way all my papers expire today so im going to have to get them reissued

Sorry to hear about the mess mate. Can't help with any shops to help you out but I can comment on the legalities of the items they picked you up on.....

1. Any steering wheel that replaces the stock item must not be more than 1 inch (25mm) smaller than the original (not sure of EXACT size difference but the info shouldn't be too hard to track down) Also if the original has a padded center (which the std R32 one has) the replacement must also have one - same with an airbag.

2. Any bov that replaces the stock one MUST BE plumb-back type. Any venting to atmos isn't allowed.

3.Only ONE intake mod is allowed. ie if you have a FMI and a POD then you would have to remove one or the other. You are allowed a POD if you don't have an FMI.....

4.Apparently all Oz drivers have difficulty remembering the H pattern of a std gearbox and therefore all cars on ozzie road must display the 'H' pattern somewhere on the gearshift or surrounds. Now this is one of the stupidest rules I have come across however a simple sticker with the H pattern and gear No's on it stuck to the surround of the gearbox with solve the problem.

i told the inspector that i was allowed the pod filter because i didnt have a cooler... he still wanted to see a box around it ............................. ..................................................................... i hate him

can some1 give me like evidence that im allowed a pod filter with no box? i really cbf getting a stock airbox

hmmmm I can tell you 110% that an uncovered POD with NO OTHER mod to the intake system is legal....if in doubt call the EPA for a ruling. The inspector (like 1/2 of them out there) doesn't seem to know a whole lot about cars/skylines and the ADRs. Maybe get the EPA to send a faxed copy of the ruling that you could show the vicroads inspector???

oh shit, im going to the dandenong office on thursday to get my gtr registered, i still have the pods on mine as well. i thought all they looked at was the VIN and engine number and u r outta there. does anyone have a spare air box lying around that i could use for the day?? which office would be the best to go to guys?? thanks heeps

draw the h pattern in the hugest bit of paper you can find and write it on with a texta.. just to take the piss and make a point.

Just put it back to stock before the inspection and you wont have any problems.

My friend has imported about 5 skyline recently and we had to remove all the aftermarket stuff before the inspections and have had no problems.

pretty sure oiled types are illegal if not covered also...
