Hi Paul, Matt here. You changed your box in my friends (JTRACING) pit garage. It was good to see twoogle run so hard in the drags, pity the judging seemed a little one sided. I spose it was "street drags" and what you encountered was nothing you wouldnt get on the street. We should have expected some wanker to claim victory in a race he lost, just it is usually in the pub a week later.

I am interested in the specs of your roll cage, Will it include side intrusion bars ? Any idea on cost ?

Thanks

Hi Matt, it is ANDRA spec cro-moly...i.e as per the spec sheet out of the ANDRA rule book and must include side intrustion bars. The cost is around $2500.

A GTR could not possibly have won, i had an inkling something like that would have to happen. Possibly should have kept my head and asked for the best out of three as the guy dropping the flag was playing games with the start too. Even still a race off with the HB Torana for runner-up should have been offered as i clearly had the wood on him too!

Cool,

I must have a look at Jamies ANDRA book when I am up at the shop next time.

The margin in the final was such that you probably would have beaten the runner up by a significant margin.

FWIW the gold "GASSED" cortina? threw a leg out of bed on the very next pass. The motor was totalled.

Well me and a mate went on the Friday and if it wasn't for the Burnout comp late that nite and seeing/hearing TWO.06L scream around the track I gladly would have asked for my money back.

The friday was incredibly unorganised, their were about 3 proper displays (took me a whole 30mins to see everything), the dyno comp was on and off all day, the drifting well.... after a 1hr wait at turn 2 (expecting plenty of action obviously) they did a whole 2 laps before it was over, what a waste of time that was. Not to mention on the first lap a guy in a 180SX had engine trouble and was stranded on the inside ripple strip of turn 2. The marshal was happy to just sit and wave the yellow flag not even trying to assist him with moving his car off the track, instead he gladly let all the cars drift around the 180. A rescue ute even drove over to the marshal and then disappeared again. I was just waiting for a massive accident on the main straight from the cruise too (just like what happened in the street racing if anybody happened to witness that).

Their were more marshals at the Dyno Comp then their was for the entire event, 1 guy was walking around with his marshal shirt undone like he was at the beach or something, he looked and acted like a drunk dropkick and i gladly gave him a serving... he wasn't too impressed.

I did intend to go for the Fri+Sat (knowing that it probably would be bigger and better on the weekend) but after the very dismal effort on fri I decided against wasting another $50 on the Sat and did some other things instead.

Power Cruise... Power Schmooze!

I went on the Friday as well and totally agree with what was said above - I went home pretty dissapointed to be honest...thinking to myself that I get more action for $15 on a Wednesday night at WSID. Although I was somewhat glad to hear that at least the Sat and Sun were a lot better, so I'll probably give it another go if there's another one in August. I'll put the Friday down to a few organisational stuff up's due to having a new event at a new venue.

That's exactly what my mate said, better value for $15. I'll happily go again (hell I go to all the EC/WSID events.. except Motor Bikes pfft, I practically live there) but next time i'll make sure that I attend on a sat or sunday.

Looking forward to this w/ends "Holden vs Ford + Bandag Bullet + Burnout Comp" at WSID, now that will be $25 well spent. Then the following week the "Compack Attak" is on :)

We went out on the friday to spectate and got excited by the fact that you could let loose out on the track . So With an old set of rear wheels and my 4wd fuse in hand we ready to enter on the saturday but when I got up it was raining so we didn't bother . If there is another event on in August like mentioned? will certainly be entering and joining in with the skyline crew to show these v8 boys a thing or two . :)

Hey Paul + Stace

Did you notice that the powercruise site does not list you in the top 4 of the street racing.  The place is blank where I would expect you to be named.

There is $200 going wanting there + a trophy !!

Get onto it!

Matt

we have e-mailed them about this issue....and recieved no response back (typical)

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
