Just checking to see if anyone else has done this and if it is a good idea ?

their price is by far the lowest ive seen. Including shipping its only $640. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with buying from nengun.com ?

I just imported a stock R32 Gts-t and my list is full turbo back zorst, CAI +filter and the AVCR. Anything wrong with this ?

3 months ago i knew next to nothing about cars but since then i have read all the new threads on this board pretty much everyday and i feel like i know what im doing now. (whether or not i actually do is another question).

Finally i want to get a full service and have all fluids changed and the place my friend recommended to me ( cypher in W.A ) quoted me $650 to change everything + battery. Does this seem expensive ? should i go to a cheaper place or pay extra for the best stuff and have a real expert give the car a thorough going-over ?

you wont hear any bad expiriances on this forum.

SAU doesnt condone that behaviour.

If you do a quick search you'll find 100's of people who have got stuff through brett

as for prices. Shop around, go to some WA meets and talk to the people over there.

personally i dont think you need one with those mods, are you planing on modding the car down the track?? i think that money could be used better with maybe a fuel pump and fmic. though i do realise you arnt going to get them with that sort of cash. but befor you got those things i think it would be a waste because you couldnt really safely run much boost at all.

also i have bought stuff for a mate a couple of times through nengun, i wont be again though. just my opinion and i know alot of ppl have had good service though.

ok this might be stating the flaming obvious but why the hell would you want a boost controller if you wernt upping the boost???

well this is what you said

personally i dont think you need one with those mods,...  i think that money could be used better with maybe a fuel pump and fmic.

So going by your words... he cant up the boost as your saying not to buy an AVC-R :headspin:

How can he up the boost... if your saying he doesnt need an AVC-R?

and that he should get something that he doesnt neccasarily need yet.

You can run more boost on the stock I/C & pump :D

but im sure you know that already..............................

yes i know that, but to safely do that you would be better off getting the other items first. do you not agree it would be an overkill to have an avcr with his current mods? otherwise a month down the track he will be posting a new thread, I THINK IVE BLOWN MY TURBO/ENGINE, WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS?? because even though ppl have and are running higher boost through their stock cars, there have been alot of ppl that blew their engines from trying the same thing by doing the mods to their car in the wrong order.

just my 2c

personally even with the extra mods i wouldnt get an avcr, i'd be looking at something like what jimih has, though not for that price considering autobarn sell them for $75 brand new :D

though not for that price considering autobarn sell them for $75 brand new  :D

haha well yes that was 2 years ago now that i bought that

but i agree, no point upping the boost til you have a FMIC as you'll just heatsoak the stock cooler at any decent boost

I bought my front mount from nengun recently. no hassles, but took a while for them to finish processing my order (ordered and paid, then took a about 1.5weeks for them to send it out). Didnt get customs tax etc

Nothing wrong with upping the boost either. 10psi on stock intercooler is fine, although avcr is a bit expensive. But hey, if you like it, buy it!

I'm sorry oh mighty moderator i will try not to have an opinion in the future.

All i was trying to do was help him out in what i think is a better way to mod a car. If my old 32 ran 10psi with the same mods he has then really to be safe you would only boost it to 12psi (like i said my opinion of running safe boost with stock gear). Would you pay over $600 to get the extra power you would make out of running an extra 2psi of boost through the stock i/c and turbo.

Thanks for all the advice guys !

yea i decided to hold off on the AVCR for a while, good deals always come around and i agree there are a few things i need for the car first, i just thought maybe i should get it now whilst i can get it cheaper.

I thought that an AVCR might be a little bit of overkill for a pretty much stock car when i could just get a manual boost controller heaps cheaper, but the AVCR looks so cool !

also, how much boost does a gts-t run stock anyway ? like 7 ?

    • The alloy coolant reservoir has a sight glass, so as long as I can see coolant in the sight glass it's GTG, as for PS, it isn't anything catastrophic if it gets low, and as it hasn't lost a drop since I have owned the car I cannot see it being an issue, even after putting the "big block" 2.5 in....LOL The only time it gets slightly messy is at oil changes, as the oil filter sits above the frame, and I need to use a plastic bottle with its bottom cut off to catch the flow when loosening the filter
    • Good on you for taking on the job, but it is a big one. Even if you have bolt on manifold and turbo, you will need: Post throttle pressure source to boost controller to wastegate (and FPR, and ECU/MAP sensor) Pre throttle pressure source to top of BOV(s) Oil feed - you can take that from the standard port in the middle of the block Oil return to block under the turbo - this is much trickier than it seems to route a decent/wide pipe past the manifold. You really can't use rubber hose because it is way too hot there, and also the oil out of the turbo core is a bit frothy so it needs to have a decent diameter Water feed - you can take that from the standard port in the rear of the block. Water return - mine runs to a T into the heater box return, just make sure you don't create a high point making bleeding hard. All of those lines should use 200 series style teflon braided hose with heat shielding because everything needs to be routed past the manifold. Also a turbo beanie is a really good idea to minimise the chance of the car catching fire (under bonnet lining in particular) You also need to decide a cam cover breathing solution as well, will you vent externally via a catch can (probably illegal) or return to the intake (plumbing required and can oil up everything over time) Keep in mind the intake and exhaust piping in the engine bay will be custom so you either need to be able to fab ally and steel or have someone you can get a car that isn't running to. Get the wideband fitting welded into the dump pipe at the same time. Also, just my opinion, a screamer pipe attracts attention and doesn't add power, I'd plumb it back if you want to be allowed to keep the car on the road. BTW do you know anything about how healthy the motor is, and what power you are targeting? Doubling or tripling the factory power on an unknown motor is a little risky. Also fuel system will need some attention (pumps, high current hanger, direct power and earth feed, injectors etc)
