Well I want to go for a cruise, and I know Ewen and Andrew (skygtrline) seem keen for a cruise... so Im goin for a cruise :D Anyone who wishes to come along is more than welcome.

-- MEETING DETAILS --

WHEN: Saturday 21st May, 9:30AM for 10:00AM departure

WHERE: Gull service station, Monaro Highway Hume.

-- WHERE IM GOING --

Cruising down through Cooma and Jindabyne, then onto Alpine way up to Charlottes Pass via Perisher Blue. Yes it will be cold, yes if its raining it will be icy and I probably wont go. Other than that, roads should be fine, theyre good roads as well ("serviced" every year), nice and wide with open sweeping corners. Theres also BP Ultimate availible on both Cooma and Jindabyne for all your petrol supplies (albeit, usually 5 - 10c per litre more than what we pay here). Should get to Charlottes Pass by 1:00PM, dick around, frolick in the snow, then head back towards Jindabyne for some food and a drink/beer/whatever.

If you want in, just say so here and will see you on the day :P

EDIT: Theres also a $16 cost per vehicle to enter the national park. So its not "cheap" as compared to a small cruise to Orroral etc, but it is a fun drive, nice and scenic and long, and cold weather = cars like to boost more :)

EDIT AGAIN: At this point in time, I have posted this on Shogun forums as well and would prefer it not to go onto any other forums. There -WILL- be police heading down to cooma at least, and possibly even up to Jindabyne (ski season starts 2 weeks after this cruise, so they will be upping their presence) and trying to avoid any unsocial behaviour some other unamed clubs have displayed in the past. The police down that way are a very friendly bunch, and will not have any problems with us as long as were not doing any obvious forms of dangerous driving (aka "FULLY SIK DORIFTO BRO~!")

So is this still a keen happening thing???

They -should- be fine unless it,

(a) Rains and the temperature is in the minuses

(B) It snows

Long-range forecast is (or was) predicting a big dump of snow around the 19th. The ground isnt cold enough for the snow to stay (each season, you need a big dump of rain or snow to cool the ground, then a base can begin) so if it comes through it should be OK when we go up. I have no worries about the road up to Perisher, if it does snow though the road from Perisher to Charlottes Pass may be closed... guess theres only one way to find out :D

Irregardless, entering the national park past Jindabyne where you have to pay the toll, the people there will advise us of road condition and if its unsafe to enter. But as said above, the roads should be a-ok :)

SNOW OMGGGGGGGGggggggggggggggggg

I'm psyched for this...even if we only get to Jindabyne and get one of the famous Kebabs i've heard so much about, eh Nik :)

shhh dont mention the kebab, people will think i have alterior motives :)

Time to reminisce about my cruise down last year...

There was scattered snow from about 5 minutes out of Canberra to about 5 minutes past Cooma, and the rest of the way to Perisher was completely white :) That was a really good dump of snow.

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
