You get to talk to all sorts of strange people when seaching for a car the best one I heard today was from a kid that sounded like he was 18 yrs old (sorry this is not meant to offend our readers) anyway with my enquiry into his R33 which sounds like it is stock with no mods on it at all he claimed that the car which he has never taken to the motorplex and has never raced can do a low 13 or even a mid 12 second pass so I thought I would ask more power questions to our obviously intellegent friend, I asked how much power has it at the wheels he guesstimated about 300hp at the wheels, on further enquiries I find that the car is running only 5psi (I am a novice here but I thought that they come from the factory with 7psi) it has no filter no I/C....

Is it because I am a female that they think I am stupid.... or too embarrassed to admit that they don' know - just be nice if people could be honest - I understand honest - nearly everyone I spoke to all people who had cars for sale had never raced there cars and I was enquiring into some fairly modified cars

i loved it when i asked a friend why their POD was packed with carpet off cuts whats it meant to do? he told me i was silly and it was to help his NOS flow better because there were bigger gaps in the carpet pieces....

i couldnt help but wonder if he was serious?

well I have not found too much which is a surprise as a few of my friends have said to get a different kind of car as there are too many skylines around and they are common now - not sure if there could ever be enough skylines around to make them as common as a commodore or falcon.... there have been maybe 2 cars that have caught my attention but if I had to really narrow it down I would have to say that Steve's car sounds very interesting, I am however looking at 2 cars on friday both are 1995 and have done similar klms but 1 is auto which the dealer says that it is very quick for an auto ( I do trust this guy we have bought cars from him before ) and the other is a manual which was once a auto ? both are a grade 4

so will take both for a drive and see what is what

I phoned the gentleman in Rockingham and the car is sold :P

I don't care really if they have raced the car because the motors in these cars are very tough and are almost a detuned version of what they could be... but again it depends on the mods that have been done a stock skyline that has been raced is a fairly good car to buy but a fully worked beasty that is running 18psi all day is going to give me a small hesitation

The rb25 has a solenoid as standard. before a certain amount of rpm (~4500rpm) the boost is kept to 5psi and after 4500 rpm it goes to 7psi. if u have a bleed valve installed (and fully closed off) you will bypass the solenoid therefore keeping the boost at 5psi. i also thought the wastegate spring was a 7psi spring but its not. im pretty sure its a 5psi spring, the solenoid bleeds off some air after ~4500rpm to reach 7psi. i thought there was something wrong with my car when it was only running at 5psi then i found out what the story was. if u dont believe me do a search....

    • Before starting any work, we attempted to adjust the tune. However even after adjusting it to certain extremes like completely stopping fuel, it had no effect. What fixed it was removing the Nistune Board and installing the original EPROM instead. This immediately fixed the issue. Everything should have been fine with the Nistune Board installation, so I am unsure why it has caused a problem. The soldered connector is also properly soldered. This worked when I first got the 550cc injectors, before cleaning, but that may have been a coincidence.  We ended up not installing the fuel pump hanger (at least for now). So currently running stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock fuel pump hanger – Well everything stock except the exhaust. Now I have around €1400 in Nistune, Injectors, and Hanger collecting dust for the time being, perhaps I'll install them in the future. For now I'll enjoy the car as is 😁 Thanks a lot for all your assistance, I really appreciate all the help you have given me.
    • The turbo can’t be the issue. They’re proven to make much much power than you’re making. There is something in the setup that isn’t correct. - has the exhaust got any silly step downs? - what exhaust manifold?
    • Ok, just the way you wrote it made it look like you had the stagger the wrong way around
    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end. I used the same driving route I did with the 323F V6 when I had a new exhaust installed, heres a couple of photos A few more since then Youtube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjkFHPzjGDw
