Dear friends

I need some advice regarding the HKS GT2530 turbo.

My current setup is as follows---

fuel system: Stock fuel pump

Stock injectors

Stock fuel pressure regulator

Splitfire coils

Platinum spark plugs regapped at 0.9mm

Induction: Stock afm

HKS airpod

600x300x100 FMIC

GFB bleed valve (at stock boost)

Drivetrain: Xtreme heavy duty clutch

exhaust system: HKS 3' dump pipe and front pipe

3' high flow cat

5Zigen 3' cat back with 5' muffler tip

Engine management: Stock ECU

I am currently on a tight budget. However, I previously bought a HKS 2530 kit with actuator and have it lying around in my room. I have been itching to bolt it on my car.

In about 3 months time when I will have the money, I am planning to install a Z32 afm, GTR fuel pump, Greddy Profec B spec 2 boost controller, Apexi Power FC.

The thing is......NOW, I want to install the turbo so i will not have it lying around and taking up space. i can then sell my stock turbo to make some cash. However, this turbo install will be done without the power FC ,Z32, boost control, fuel pump and fpr. I will then be running stock boost on the HKS turbo for 3 months till I can upgrade the rest.

Tell me what you think......will it work out.....Really need advice!

Cheers,

Your fren

Dan

Im pretty sure as soon as you bolt the turbo on, your air/fuel levels will be all wrong!

I did almost the same thing as you bolted my turbo on, then was too afraid to drive it, so it has sat in the shed ever since. Now i have all the parts on the car, and am waiting on getting it tuned!

I hope that helps!

Ive been there and done all the mods you want to do. Firstly its not going to run good with the stock computer even with a SAFC. Get a Power FC. Then turn up the boost. Stock fuel pump will handle about 16psi and then will struggle to supply more. i ran 18psi but with the stock fuel pump but it was running lean (12.7-1) in the midrange. Get a GTR pump, there cheap. Put in 19psi and you should get around 230rwkw. Im currently pushing 240rwkw at just over 19psi. Mid range go is very very nice. Pulls like a train.

Personally I'd stick the turbo on, check the A/F ratios and knock on the dyno. Then juggle the boost and ignition timing for the best compromise, don't run it close to the limit. Not perfect, but easily doable.:)

Does that mean I can bolt the turbo on without the power FC???

hey guys,

sorry to hijack the thread Dan, but i got a 2535 bolted into my 32gtst atm. bcoz i just got it imported, im not shure wat i have so i think its a full 3" turbo back exhaust n a pod filter. no GTR fuel pump, no injectors, no FMIC, no power FC, nada!! am i safe running this turbo at low boost say 10psi? coz im a pov uni student i cant really afford anything till abt 3 mths from now.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
