don't be harsh on the newbie... not everyone has the same tastes/priorities in life as you.

welcome, and hope you can gain as much knowledge from here to make your skylining experience enjoyable.

hey mate

nice to see another one that has seen the stovetop lights.

seriously though.... there is more than just the engine that is different on the turbo and non turbo models...u'd be better off buying a gtst 4dr, atleast then you can sell the engine to recover some cash for your rb25... noone wants to pay much for an anchor though.

cheers

Linton

what happened to ur rb25 shan?

block's sitting in my garage recieving some TLC and hopefully soon some arias pistons. head's at a workshop, waitin to get polished when they get some spare time. Been spending more and more money and time in fixing the AE86's drivetrain n stuff so that it better suits the CA18, so my R32's is less of a priority. I want to have a good track car (not for drift like all the monkeys I speak to seem to assume) with all the problems fixed before it sees some serious work.

besides chris, where I work I get to drive all sorts of fun cars, so I don't really have the same urges as a pimply lil kid with an overpowered R33 GTSt

De@No, buy or import an R32 4 Door GTSt or a cefiro... its a lot cheaper in the long run and a lot less headaches as an RB20 to RB25 swap isn't that easy... I'll be bold and say an RB20 to RB26DETT is an easier swap.

I thought the conversion wouldnt be that hard are the engine mounts different...ISnt the rb25det an alot more stronger motor than the rb20det and can withstand modification alot more?

i dunno... i looked at the wiring loom of an RB25 and an RB26 and the RB26 wiring loom looks more like hte RB20 one than the RB25 one.

I guess things like water pumps and fuel pumps have to be changed regardless. Maybe its just me thinking I've done the wrong thing by goin with an RB25 swap :D

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
