Hey, Im soon going to have my car tuned and im pretty sure i have everything!

Just wondering if ill need a Z32 air/flow meter????

Im aiming for 240rwkw's (mods are in my signature)

but basically:

RB20DET

HKS 2530

Power FC

Greddy Front mount Intercooler

AVCR

Bigger fuel pump

Rx7 injectors 460cc

full 3 inch exhaust

Is there anything else ill need????

Also how much of a benifit would a set of HKS cam gears be???

Thanks

Luke

yeah i would say with amount of airflow you'd be nearing maxing it out

im maxing out my stocker rb25 one with stock turbo at 12psi

like its only a minor 5.0volts hit but it still happens.

have a look at a set of camshafts instead of cam gear

i dont think cam gear will give a great deal whereas some big cams should increase power everywhere and give it a bit more "zest"

The AFM will be maxed out well and truly at 240rwkw.

(You can tune the maps to add more/less fuel as the rpm changes even though its maxed, but its a bit dodge)

Get the Z32 item they are only cheap and will give you more resolution and better results.

SK says the RB20/25 is good for 220rwkw

Z32 is good for about 260rwkw

Q45 is good for about 300rwkw

I reckon they run out of scope even a bit before these quoted figures, but you get the idea.

I think you will find the RX7 injectors are 550s, and will be very interesting to see if you make the power you are chasing. Best advice, dont chase the figure, just look for a good 25-30% increase in grunt, obviously depends on what your car makes now on the same dyno.

As for the AFM, ask the guys tuning your car. Some seem to be hapy enough tuning the fuelling with the AFM out of range with A/Fs verified off a wide band O2 sensor, others want you to have an AFM

Roy, probably NA RX-7 injectors, which are I do belive 460ish. Id say they would go better than the 550s for driveablity also.

Id just upgrade it tho anyway. Why do things by halfs? Also if the engine goes, then thats another thing your going to need to upgrade then.

Id also guess the bigger size would let a bit more air thru, not a lot but hey, every little bit!

im not really too fussed with kw reading anyway, I just put that in as a guide for you guys!

As long as its making over 200 at the wheels ill be happy !!!

You say that now but after a couple of weeks driving around with 200atw you'll want more :(

The good thing is with the items listed you can have a bit more power fairly easily.

shit that list looks so similar

im sure people can get on here and say me mate dave got 260rwkw with the stock rb20 afm, but seriously uve set the car up nicely so why not sell the stocky for $100 or something get a z32 for $220 or something, get it tuned definately have no worries

the z32 will definately be better for the tune for that power than the stocky - better resolution its not really that the rb20 one is restrictive

Or you could do this and never worry about how much air flow you need....

Im sure you are a wanker.... I said nothing about 260rwkw and neither did hawker05

Why upgrade something when the stock one will be enough for his target power, perhaps in the future when he is chasing more power it would be a good upgrade then. When the limits have been found and not simply spend another $400

Im sure wankers can get on here and say upgrade everything mate when they havent noticed what other people have put out with the stock one.

Just because u can understand how an MAF works and type the word resolution doesnt mean he needs it a z32

Do u know for a fact that the stock airflow meter will max out before the turbo? or did your mate dave tell you?

There, i saw your 1 cent and raised you 4. See if you can make 5 cents worth next time

lol, count your cents and point ur self, this thread is not about you or me and I never said anything directly to you, just what I reckon like you are entitled to do.

you are obviously very edgy bout this stuff eh

No your right it was pretty rude the way i put it however it did seem that your post implying that my mate "dave" had told me some magical figures. I also think that everyones mate dave gets on here and creates "skyline myths" such as "Rb20 standard MAF wont do over 200rwkw". As a result dave is going around telling everyman and his dog to toss his MAF just for fun.

I do appreciate that you were trying to help this guy but i think unless you have personally run out of resolution (or whatever the case may be) that comments are best left to ones self. Posts with information based on own(or atleast someone else from the board) experiences are far more useful for whoever they are meant for.

Sorry again inissane

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
