I didn't even realise that properly, people caught drink driving get ***k all,

what are you talking about, all the people i know who drink drive and get cought lose there license.

i say just take the cars of these retards, impound them or auction them off. they are ****ing it up for everyone else with there shitty half-assed burn outs on the streets cause they are to poor to go do it on a track.

edit : btw, they werent blaming modified cars in that video, they were blaming the retards behind the wheel, they hardly mentioned anything about the cars.

those guys in that video are just a bunch of whingers who think burning up there tyres in the middle of the road is "COOL".

would be cool if cops were alowed to smash there faces in with those battons, ide pay to see that lol.

yeah, you loose your liscence for a while - how does that compare to loosing a car that is worth 10s of thousands of dollars? And you can still drive if you get brethoed and pass a reading in excess of 0.05. Under 0.08 and you get a slap on the wrist.

If you think its fair to loose your car for doing a burnout, have a think about what the repocussions are if you are drink driving. A guy I worked with killed a father of 2. He got 8 months prison. It was his third offence. People drink driving poses a far GREATER risk to society than someone doing a burnout in a carpark. Its a shame you cant see that.

Another thing, if you were to drive at 160kph in a 60 zone you would go to court and loose your liscence for a while, but chirp your wheels and you loose your car. If you think that is fair, I just hope you never end up making laws in this world.

The legal system should dispense justice. This whole car hoon car confiscation thing is just a feed of crap dreemed up by a bunch of ignorant tea totalling has beens, who have nothing better to do with their time. It is a knee jerk reaction to antisocial behaviour and a gross OVER reaction. The laws have been in place for some time to deal with dickheads on the road - its just a shame that the courts dont see fit to give appropriate punishments.

The media are jumping on the car hoon hysteria, feeding it and feeding off it all for the sake of sensationalist reporting to win viewers. Just remeber if you drive a modified car, or an import, or even a commodore that has a nice set of wheels - you too are probably being perceived as a potential hoon because of bullshit like what ACA spews out.

But hey, its your right to jump on the hysteria bandwagon. Enjoy your ride.

I agree completely with the baton statement - they could sell tickets to that one. If they wanted to sort people like that out, they would need to arrest people for being dickheads. Now that is a law I would support.

Another thing to consider, punishment fitting the crime.

If you fire a weapon in public, you get in trouble, if its near alot of poeple, more trouble, and if someone dies as a result - stand from under.

Now, burnout in car park, chirp wheels in public, v's drifting in built up area - all the same punishment. Its just not bloody right.

i think its fair to lose your license for drink driving, and for doing stupid burn outs.

but chirp your wheels and you loose your car

nothing happens to you for chirping your wheels, theres a difference between chirping your wheels and doing a fkn stand still for minutes on end.

Nothing happens? read the fine print.

When I was a young fella, like so many others, we used to get behind the wheel of a car and see what we could do before we broke them. This usually entailed going to some out of the way industrial area, or even on dirt tracks and practicing burnouts, getting side ways etc. But nobody I knew would even think about doing it in a built up area or where there was traffic. It was a case of a time and place for everything.

Those that did decide to show off where people were around usually got stamped on pretty hard and pretty quick by the police - if not, by irate members of the public that didnt have a problem giving someone a clip around the ear for being a dickhead.

Those same laws are still in place today. Creating excessive noise, culpable driving, dangerous driving - the list goes on. This means that if someone was to be doing stupid things in inappropriate places, they could easily loose their liscence, cop huge fines and/or go to prison. Those laws still exist. Where they didnt really cut it is if someone was out of built up areas, where there was no other traffic on the roads. It was alot harder to loose your liscence and go to gaol if you restricted your hormone surges to a place that was only going to endanger yourself.

It was/is a good system, if people dont respect others, they get slammed hard - otherwise they get a slap on the wrist.

This whole car confiscation came from NZ, where it was implemented to deal with road rage - NOT car hoons. The laws to deal with car hoons already exist, and if enforced work well.

Some little no life politician, who knows nothing of the current road laws that have existed for a long time, decided to push through a new 'improved' version of NZ's new law. This results in a huge waste of time, effort and taxpayers dollars, reinventing the wheel so they can show the world what a wonderful job they are doing.

It would have been alot better if the police just started enforcing the current regulations that already exist, instead of this abomination that has no room for measure of degree or discretion.

In a society where people get good behaviour bonds for such things as theft, assault, even rape - where their actions are selfish and maliscious, why should people doing what they have done since cars were invented, be punished so harshly? You may say take the car off them, but loosing a 20 or 30 thousand dollar car, for something like doing a burnout or chirping your wheels (yes, you can loose your car for chirping your wheels) is ludicris in the face of such lenient sentences for other more severe crimes.

I had my car stolen a few years back, the guys who did it were repeat offenders. The police caught them, and offered their appologies that the low lifes that stole and damaged my car were going to get a slap on the wrist, they said probably a community based order that they just wouldnt complete anyway.

So, basically if you want to hoon, Steal someone elses car, and do it in that, cut sick, run it into gutters, and destroy the tyres and rims when you finished - may as well pinch the head deck while you are there (after all, if you get caught, the head deck was there when you left the car, so someone else must have done it). You get a suspended sentance of some lame community based order.

OR, you could take your own car out, do a burnout (only damaging your own tyres which you will pay for) and loose the car which most probably cost you thousands of dollars.

Theres another thought, do a burnout in an expensive, well built car and it will cost you alot more than if you do it in a $500 POS.

Fair isnt it.

What is the message we are putting out to society as a whole, drink driving, theft, damage to property, assault, even rape in some instances is not as bad as doing a burnout (but only if its in your own car - somebody elses is ok).

That is bloody wrong. The whole principal is just so farked up, and poorly though out.

/rant, sorry but this whole 'hoon' thing, with the new associated laws really, really shits me

i think its fair to lose your license for drink driving, and for doing stupid burn outs.

Regardless, the cops can take your car. There was a thing in the paper a few weeks ago, a security guard took off from a set of lights & his tires squealed, and the car got towed.

jsut saw the video **** those guys are absolutely dickheads, i have no problems with the police arresting them throwing away the key and recycling their cars.

those guys are the Nth degree of the dickheads around and are the ones that wreck it for everyone else and create the stigma of this bullshit hoon stuff.

Can we organise with ACA to produce the real story on the modified car scene and stop them from only presenting worthless shits of society.

a security guard took off from a set of lights & his tires squealed, and the car got towed.

if thats true thats kinda lame....

but i always do that in my bro's car by accident and the cops never seem to do anything, but maybe if i was in a done up skyline or something they would.

Can we organise with ACA to produce the real story on the modified car scene and stop them from only presenting worthless shits of society.

would be cool, should get a bunch of people from SAU or something to tell the real story, i dont think ACA and the rest of the community relise that there are some people who can have nice cars and not be retarded.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
