hey man

as Lance said.

P Plate leage limit = 125 / 1000 kg so 125/1000 = .125 = legal limit

R33 Gts T = 184 kw / 1370 kg = .134306 = Over P plate legal Limit.

Yeh you will get insurance and you may get away with driving it, But in the evnt of insurance claim, the policy stastes, that the car must be aprooved by vic roads as a P plate legal car, and if it is found to be too powerfull the claims are likely to be rejected. So you would loose your baby. so ull pay a whoping amount for insurance and it is most possible useless.

Car looks realy nice though, i am with the others definately take of the GTR badge. Looks real clean too man how much you pikc it up for ?

Get rid of the badge... unless you want to be a *insert derogatory comment here*

Welcome - L's... keep car straight for a few months or better yet go do a driving course with your car to get farmilliar with it ASAP. Not judging your skills behind the wheel but if I had a R33 @ 18 I know I would have made a meal of myself or the car (good chance anyway :()

Nice ride

hey guys, thanks for the comments, yeah it is over the power to weight ratio limit, i investigated taking off the gtr badge, but it has been melted onto the gril and if remove it, the grill will be all broken and look crap, so i tihnk i'll leave it on til i pick up a new grill to replace it with.

im 17 and ahalf today :(

so i have 6 months left til i can go for my P's

bought the car bout 3 weeks ago for $18k... :s i dont know if that was too expensive, however it is in imaculate condition.

i dont drive it enough on my L's to warrent full comp, so im currently only on 3rd party, and just cars have organised for me to start on rating 5 at $2900 a year when i get my p's in november.

i know it isnt legal for me to drive, so i will probably keep mods to a minumum, but i know alot of people on thier p's who drive skylines and get away with it.... so im hoping i will to

also just like to say i support safe driving, i bought my skyline because i love them and the engineering behind them, not coz i want a really fast car.

and as soon as i get my lisence i'll be doing some driving cources to get used to my car properly and know its limits.

thanks guys ;)

Hey man, yeh as i said its not getting cuaght for the ration thats the probem.

Its the fact that you will be paying your 2900 premium for your car, and in the event of an accident, your claim will most probably be rejected, so therfore u dont get anything, so you will loose your car. cos it states in the policy it must be aprooved by vic roads as a p plate legal car. they will not pay out if ur not supose to be driving the car, and i can tell u now if they can get out of a payment they will.

Trust be i spent an hour on the phone to vic raods and just cars funding out all this shit, i was going to get a car that was legal stock but the mods pushed it over (R32 gts-t) and once any performance modifactions have being made the car has to be re assesed by vic raods as under the limit and if over then yeh insurance is basicly invalid.

Pz.

hmmm but technically my car is over the power to weight limit when its stock as a rock, so why would they give me insurance when they wont cover me?

and also i rang vicroads and spoke to some people in the safety department about power to weight limits

and i was told that i should contact nissan or do some research on the internet to find out whether or not the car is over the limit.

so in other words, vicroads didnt have a clue whether it was over or not.

so i could just say in rebutle to that, that i just did some research on the internet and found it was not over the power to weight limit

lol i know thats not a feasable answer or comeback, but if vicroas cant even tell me if im allowed to drive it or not, then why should i get penalised lol

anyways in the mean time, im going to enjoy my car, and i'll wit for that time or situation to arrise before i worry about it, you only live once :(

LOL, yes they will insure you, your giving them money, but like any contract or policy you should read it first, it states that if the vehicle is over the limit then you wont get your claim aprooved, call em and ask that if the car is too powerfull for ps am i insured in the event of a claim, they will tell u no, the car must be aprooved by vic roads.

I have so many ppl say that when i tell them, why would they insure u if ur not coverd, Just read the policy and ask questions first, they probly love these cases they collect wopping premiums and dont have to pay out full comp claims ;)

And i dun know who you spoke to at vic roads, but they have the specifications for all vehicles and can tell you about your car, i spoke to them just yesterday along with the insuracne company.

well its prctically stock, but has a pod filter and bleed valve running 10psi

however i tihnk i'll be removing the bleed valve soon and replacing it with the standard boost solenoid.

so it will just have a pod

-Ruffels

so im asuming its running a bit over 190kw at the fly

Hey mate, ive been learning in my skyline since i was 16 ;) Its a real pain in the arse that you know you are allowed to drive it on your L's but cant on your P's :(. Ive had my P's since october last year and havent been pulled over once. Guess it just depends how lucky you are and where you live.

Ash for power to weight, no one really follows that. Most the people on this website are P-platers, but as people are saying, insruance might give you a mighty kick in the nuts and send you home when you want to make a claim after an accident though. Be smart about mods. My car is not close to stock and i can recall many times which i was lucky to not stack it.

Oh and have fun in it ;)

i just rang vic roads and they said that they dont have an updated list of restricted cars and that the car has to be under 3.5L per tonne and under 125KW per tone

she said i should contact the vichcle manufacturer

hmmm once again, vic roads dont have a clue

thanks krzysiu, yeah i know what you mean i live in a suburb where the police arnt as tight about this sort of thing then most places, and i havent been pulled voer yet either (l-plates might have something to do with it :() but yeah i dont want to have to sell it in 6 months time when i get my p's

;)

also when i rang vicroads the lady said alot of it is upto the police's discretion

but there are no demerit points lost for driving a high powered car

only a "heafty fine" as she stated

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
