Is launceston closer?

Yeah Launceston is closer by about, give or take an hour.

last time i drove too hobart took 3 and a hlaf hours

only takes close to 2 hours to get to launnie.

I usually travel to launnie every days off so you know where all the speed cameras are as well :)

Oh i live in Rosebery West coast :)

Awesome dude thanks,

Im saving money while i dont have a licence lol...

so i wanna do a major upgrade upgrade turbo and all that stuff should havea fair bit after i get it back. close to 25K but not sure what to do too the car part from turbo upgrade and bigger injectors and fuel pump i wishi was a mechanic sometimes :P

Well as an example Phat R33 and i have both just rebuilt and are putting big turbo's on RB25's and both went different ways about it, but both got our work done at S&D Bell Auto...

Im not giving figures of whats been spent by either of us but the questions to ask yourself is, what do you want to do with the car... IE; street driven, drag, track, drift, combo of a few etc

How much power do you want to make, and when would you prefer it to be made?

these sort of questions will determine what you do and do not need to do to get power out of the engine...

I could waffle on all day about this, but i will wait till you can answer more questions (and im sure others would like to have a say too)

maybe start a new thread about this?

My personal favs' in Hobart are;

1. white 70's cortina with HKS stenciled on the side

2. purple lancer with more primer than body kit

3. several VL commodores with NISMO Stickers.

Anyone in Launceston seen the loser who has just appeared in the white Camira?  Every time I've seen him he's been blasting around and driving like a f*&^wit.  Checkerplate where the back number plate goes, and it looks like he's either put a big radiator with flashy pipes or a FMIC on the front.  Include the set of alloys and you've got a full on performance car!

What about just starting with a decent car?

That guy is a fu#k, the thing is a "cold air intake" to add to the list of gayness it has LED's that flash in ghey patterns..... this is just an example of how much of a dick he is. .........sr20det, from a GTiR USING THE 4WD BOX........in a camira.........

Apologies if this one has had a mention, ut my personal fave - in hobart, most often spied in new town, a red lada coupe. This thing has the hand made, oversize drift wing, hand cut stickers, a stick on bonned scoop, and an exhaust that would wake the dead...

I was talking to a gent at autobarn, and apparently they will sell about four stick on bonnet scoops a week, and most of them will stick them on in the car park!

I got stuck talking to a girl (herself complete with fox t-shirt and 7 facial piercings) she said I should grab some blue neons, paint the lower half of my black 32 silver, throw on some stickers and "it will look really good, trust me" aaaaaagh deliver me!

here's another.  Blue auto pulsar, early 90s model with massive Nismo sticker.

I think that one is from down my way in St Helens. sounds a bit like the one i see all the time.

Yeah seen that one around. Brillant ain't it! It's amazing how many stickers you can make with white electrical tape. Got him at the lights a few weeks ago and he decided that key bangers were the order of the day. From Davey st in town to the Mornington roundabout! I counted at least 40 of them!

let's get this one going again. There must be some new classics, most of the others would have carked it by now! Especially the white camira (I hope!).

DAMN DUDE long time no post, how you been, still got the 32's???

No more 32s, all sold. The market got flooded with rubbish when the 15 year rule went out the window, dragging down the value of decent cars.

Although the amount of Skylines that have been pranged in tassie there might be a market just in supplying replacements :ermm:

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
