Want to learn more and be involved within a car racing team?

I am chasing a goal I have set in my life to move up the ranks in motorsport, with a background in karting for the past 10 years, I have pretty much conquered what I can in kart racing and it's time to move up a category.

I have recently attended a Formula Ford test day at Calder Park Raceway and for my first time in a race car which wasn't set up for the circuit I was only 4secs off State Championship times. With every session and the more I done laps my times were getting faster and faster, however unfortunately we had to call an early day after brake problems.

Anyway my aim isn't to bore people so I'll get to the point, I have recently been taken up by a company who wish to support me in racing the 2006 Victorian Formula Ford Championships, the owner of the car I tested is more than happy to supply is car for the 2006 season.

Basically I am after a major sponsor to take on board as we are in need of atleast $20,000 to contest the 2006 season. Of course you don't only get the advantage of advertisement on the race car but what we offer is worth the price.

I have dealt with numerous companies to try and get sponsorship but with no luck, it seems these days you have to know someone who can get you places and until you make a name for yourself no one wants to know you.

If you are interested or know anyone interested in a worthwhile marketing opportunity in motorsport, please supply your details and I will forward on a detailed proposal.

Thank you all for your time.

Michael

Good luck fetching a sponsor, what chassis will you be runnin?

The best bet is get busy with professional proposal/portolios, demonstrating the exposure to different markets etc, ppl dont just throw money at ppl, i have had to work hard and cash in friendships to get enough money to run this years Dutton,:)

I'll be running a '95 model Van Diemen, it's got a fresh engine and I feel it's definately capable of running competitively.

I've been doing proposals for my karting for the past 4 years, recently came up with a new one for the Formula Ford and sent them off to a few companies already with no luck.

It's a tough business out there, motorsports is about money and who you know.

So many people with talent but no money, then again theres no many people with money but no talent.

Good luck with it PRESA.

In my experience you either need a personal contact in an interested company, or a synergy in products that you can leverage.

Unfortunatley FFord like all open wheelers are some of the least similar to the road car industry which can make it difficult. All the best, get what you can, and most of all, look after the people that do come on board!

Hate to say it but sell the Skyline and that will pay for part of a season. Sure there are the fortunate ones out there that have good backers/parents, but then there are those that fron their own money to get the ball rolling and give themselves the headstart.

Our company's head accountant race in FFord too, got his own team, trailer and shit. I just want to see on the back of that trailer is an R32GTR race prepared Group A.

hahah thats the way we went a GTR on the back of a trailer :D

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
