i have an r33 gtr and was running fine until i had the clutch changed recently (heavy duty Extreme).

it idles fine then i can feel vibration through the whole car from 1200-1400 revs (car in neutral). put my foot on the clutch and it still vibrates between those ranges. beyond those revs it smoothes out again.

cant seem to work out wat the problem is. im gonna get it dyno'd next week perhaps that might give an indication.

has anyone had this kind of problem????

i took it back to the mechanic and they had a look around but couldnt find the problem. he's pretty honest so i dont think he's jibbing me. he said thats the first time hes heard of this cas he's done heaps of clutches. do u think its cas the clutch plate isnt aligned properly or something??

hmmm the same thing happened to my car when I got a new clutch. (some xtreme clutch) It still happens come to think of it. Mainly in second gear. Not to often though. I think i've read a couple of people get that or something as well with there clutch. Have a read through this http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=69220

The mechanic that did mine said "they do that", noone who i've taken it to after has been able to fix it so I just put it down to me driving to slowly in second gear I guess.. Lemi know what yours turns out to be though please :P

yeah i've checked all the engine mounts and underbody braces, all is good. i spoke to a guy at ABS that does clutches and he reckons it could be the fly wheel not balanced (machined properly) i hav a lightweight flywheel i believe cas the mechanic mentioned it was very very light compared to others he did.

hi ferni. it had the same fly wheel before with the standard clutch and was fine. do u reckon they could hav machined it out of balance. If the engine gets put under load easy this would be a bad thing right? Does that defeat the purpose of having a light weight fly wheel?

    • This sounds like someone who would have owned an R33 in their past... It's okay, I'm 100% picking up what you're putting down Mark.
    • Just back on what was raised about jacking off the the tow/tie down point on the front of cars. I've used it plenty. I've also watched it on a car where you could see it move the front end of the car. It was like the front end/whole car being tweaked and twisted a bit. I will say, I struggle to find good jacking points on MOST cars. The ones that have good points, I then normally struggle to find a jack tall enough to make the car change height!   One of my go to points for either the jack, or the axel stands though, is either a suspension pickup point, OR a subframe to chassis major bolting point. I actually think its the subframe on my R33 that has a bit of a bend in it, from being jacked in the middle too. However, it could have been one of my many other cars I've had over the years! Or it could also be the from me jacking it up, and the fact the top of the front radiator support isn't there, so it can allow the front of the car to move and bend etc.
    • My apologies. I forgot we were talking about weird beard M series stuff. Had been talking elsewhere with someone about an R33 with similar subject and got confused.
    • Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway
    • Should be more than fine, especially the overall fuel pressure would never exceed 3.5bar (assuming that thing never gets more than 0.5bar of boost in stock form). According to the chart, it's 11amps.
