I have spent beyond my means to tell the truth. I didnt realise the cost involved with rebuilds and the ongoing maitenance costs. I had to borow money to buy the car, then again for the rebuild.

Now i want to buy something a little cheaper, for around 15-20 and pay off my debts.

I am also trying to save a deposit for an apartment and its just not happning!

The car is awesome and i the reasons above only just (i change my mind all the time) out-weigh keeping it :-(

Oh yeah i am getting it re-tuned/dynoed today, at Charlie's Motors. found out that it was set to standard with the adjustable cam gears and the timing. Im hoping it will be a little more responsive?? Im getting a really safe tune with the AF ration's in the high 11's at max boost & RPM. So i will let you know how it goes!!

Thanks Roy & gun32!

Im not sure about the power, its got 260kw@ all 4's and that is at knock level maxing out at 18. I am told it is still a very quiet engine (as far as knock) which would suggest that the clearances are still quite tight after the rebuild.

I am happy with the power and the safe tune. Either way PHATGTR you can bolt up a BIG turbo to the engine and the bottom end would take it!

I dont have the money, but would love to bolt up a set of 260deg cams and a HKS T04R or TO4Z!!

Cheers,

Francisco

Emails Sent & PM's answered!!

Also had just had the car serviced and re-tuned by Charlie's MS, they have done a GREAT job!!

Car is driving beautifully!! They tuned it for torque, and it spun up 260kw@wheels, in 4th gear not in shootout mode and i am told their dyno reads low. I will be going back to mercury MS and getting a comparative dyno done for the new tune.

Cheers,

Francisco

My mate had a GTR specification manual last night and i can confirm it has the "FS" on the engine plate info, showing that it is a genuine V-Spec. (pics to follow)

Also has original auction sheet from japan, showing that the NISMO spedo was fitted after 2,000kms, and what mods it arrived with.

Has the additional pump adjacent to the oil filter, and the 4wd ecu in the boot is the Vspec version, checked with the serial numbers.

I will forward pics after this weekend to show the above

Cheers

    • Ok guys thank you very much. GCG highflow it is then 🙂
    • forgot to mention that when it does this it does not kill the engine, but I have not kept the pedal down long enough to let it, as I see no reason to beat up on it as its got to be something simple, small and dumb causing this.  And as soon as I let off pedal, the engine returns to its normal super smooth operation and rpms re-stabilize quickly, once below 4k.
    • neither stumble or cut really seem to be an appropriate term....hard to explain its like a rev limiter but at 4k, but it violently shakes engine and entire vehicle as the rpms will not rise over 4k, even with slow acceleration. as soon as it hits 4k, it sounds like entire spark is lost entirely. plugs were 1.1 which I used as such, but later put in new plugs gapped down to .8 changed back after issue arose when I replaced the coils, still does it with either plug gap...damn and it was all running so good.
    • Oh how times have changed! I actually lean it out relative to my water/methanol injector duty cycle. The methanol adds a lot of fueling and you can then lean it out even more due to reduced knock.
    • Yeah my thoughts are the same, a well thought out WMI setup, would be slightly ahead of just straight E85 and you're also chemically intercooling the charged air, dropping it even further. This is why you need to add so much more fuel as soon as you spray. I remember someone taking me through their set up before (Dennis, has a R33, lives around Cabramatta - no idea if he's still around on this forum). He would target AFR 10:1 on 98, then as WMI ramped on, AFR would lean back up to 11:1. Amazingly, he did this all through his PowerFC, a relay to cut power to his EBC solenoid if there was not enough line pressure on his WMI kit. And of course, if there wasn't any boost made above gate pressure, you wouldn't be accessing the load cells with heaps of timing for WMI. One downside to that rudimentary setup, once the WMI came on, the EBC would unleash the dragon, and of course all the timing. Tyres would fry lol.
