yeah I got my car through them, very helpful, also my mates dad bought a 4wd through them.

Id recommend them.

Define "pear-shaped"? I had a mechanical inspection done before purchase, and j-spec organised that for a small fee, cuts down the risk abit.

My car was dented in transport tho, but that was the shipping company KIWI's responsibility, and ive claimed through them, and no matter who you buy with its going to be shipped via KIWI anyways.

.

Pear shaped means that sometime there are unforseen problems and I've read on here that people have been left to fend for themselves.

I've never heard that about J-Spec of course.

I've imported twice before and never had a problem through someone else but a V35 means a bigger investment to risk which is the reason I'm asking.

Cheers

Chris, I have used Craig at J Spec twice and both times have been all good.

Transport wise it will come through NYK as Kiwi don't do west coast plus I paid the extra and got it insured through Midas for shipping theft etc.

Like all these brokers, they have there good and bad days but I think his reputation is reasonably sound.

Cheers

About $450 to get the car insured for $18K.

They also need comprehensive photos taken, preferably at the holding yard or wharf.

Craig organised those photos for me.

Was not required fortunately as the car arrived exactly as it left Japan including all the gauges etc but I thought that $450 was good piece of mind.

Excess is $500 as well but considering there was over $2k worth of gauges/power FC/shift knobs/harnesses/seats etc just ripe for the taking, it was still worth it.

Cheers

Ken

not bad 450

So i guess u had no problems in the whole process.

How like di it take for car to arrive in aus? 4-5weeks?

regards

thai

Depends when you buy the car and where you love.

Boat to Perth sails around the 26th of each month and car must be at the wharf by about 22nd.

Takes 2 weeks to travel here and about 4 days to unload/quarantine/clear.

Boat spaces are at a premium and may sit in Japan for 1 or 2 mths awaiting a spot.

Cheers

Mate depending on what docks your at, you may be wih KIWI car carriers, as mine is. KIWI gives you insurance for piece of mind....they log the condition, aftermarket parts etc. when the car arrives at the docks, and if it isnt in the same condition when it arrives in Aus you can claim for any damages or theft etc. Just for piece of mind though, always always get insurance...

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
