Howdy Folks,

just a little note of caution for all those out there. Something that probably isnt news but worth thinking about and that I and others believe has been going on for a while.

I am member of another forum and we regularly organise cruises as social events and to attend motorsport days, as most of the forum guy/gals are genuine enthusiasts (Most are 35 years and plus). Last week we had a cruise down in the Southern highlands and guess who showed up. MR PLOD with his own envoy! After chatting to the Officers who were very polite and chilled I must say, we were informed that they had been ordered by "Higher up at HQ" in the traffic division to monitor our cruises through the forum's, with the 300, Silvia and Skylines forum getting particular mentions. And this sort of fits with events that have been happening on our recent cruises, were our blue friends have been appearing in the middle of NO WHERE, on roads where no cars had been seen traveling either way for 50 minutes(apart from us), and appearing at the exact time as we happened to roll through. Coincidence I think not, and this has not happened just once.

I am all for the Police and them doing they're job, but I didn't think myself and my friends belonged to Al Quaeda (or the likes) and warranted such invasive attention. Most of us are old (speed only occasionally or at the race track) and spend a mint keeping our cars in mint condition. Yes these are public forums, but cant our tax money be better spent looking for serious crimes. This F&(^&^&N RIDICULOUS and I feel I know have to watch what ever I say or type. In England the cops chase terrorists while hear they scurry around playing CIA games for a couple of cars with mods. Get a F(*&*(&N LIFE Law Enforcement guys, PLEASE go chase some terrorists or those mother ****ers who poison our kids with smack and like.

Matt :sadam:

I think its invasive and offensive. It this kind of behaviour that creates public resentment towards the Authorities.

I cant say it suprises me a great deal, our Police force loves to stomp on our civil liberties. Oh thats right, as soon as we step into our own vehicle that we've paid for with blood sweat and tears, and drive out onto the roads that we have also paid for through our tax dollars with blood sweat and tears, our rights and liberties are non existant. This is why they can legally search our cars, they can accuse us of any road related infringement and its "Guilty until proven innocent".

OH Crap I forgot, we have no rights in this country! And apparantly no Privacy anymore either.

And now motoring enthusiasts are not allowed to meet together and share their appreciation for their vehicles without being spied on and followed around like terrorism scum.

It makes me hate our Authorities and resent my Country.

Why is it like this? Wheres the Anarchy? The Brits blow up speed cameras because the public disagrees.. what do the Aussies do? What we do best of course! NOTHING.

SHE WONT BE RIGHT, MATES. :uzi:

Heres a big loving F*CK YOU to the Australian Police Force. Thats right, F*CK You, you motherf*cking C*NTS. I F*CKING hate you and wish you all the best in getting yelled at by pissed off motorists. Get F*CKED.

Damn that felt good!

Mate, we've got more than our fair share of traffic cops to harrass us. They drive around in unmarked silver and tinted Mitsu Evo VIIIs, top of the range unmarked Merc estates, the sporty Skoda Octavias and Vauxhall Vectras that a certain PC Milton sees fit to test drive at 159mph (254kmh) to see it's all ok! The Evo guys have been known to egg people on before pulling them. Nice!

What I find paticularly funny is they come up to you and ask "what you guys doing?" everyime without fail, I just want someone to say just one time "Transporting heroin" and see what sort of response you get

cause really, its a stupid question that doesn't need asking, if they saw you doing something wrong they will fine you or something, but I have never seen anyone admit to doing something wrong yet

Although after being rear ended last week by a drunk driver at sutherland way, The cops down there are TOPS! :) they were polite as and everything, except they took my license to get a statement and details, but then didn't give it back and lost it. so I had to buy another one

mark

I got NO problem at all with police policing the roads, I got no problems with police pulling cars over that they suspect are non roadworthy (even if some of the road worthy rules in vic are stupid), I do have a problem with prejudices and targetting.

    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
    • I know I have to get a wheel alignment but until then I just need to bring the rear tyres in a bit they're wearing to the belt on the inside and brand new on the outside edge. I did shorten the arms a bit but got it wrong now after a few klms the Slip and VDC lights come on. I'd just like to get it to a point where I can drive for another week or two before getting an alignment. I've had to pay a lot of other stuff recently so doing it myself is my only option
    • You just need a wheel alignment after, so just set them to the same as current and drive to the shop. As there are 2 upper links it may also be worth adding adjustable upper front links at the same time; these reduce bump steer when you move the camber (note that setting those correctly takes a lot longer as you have to recheck the camber at each length of the toe arm, through a range of movement, so you could just ignore that unless the handling becomes unpredictable)
    • I got adjustable after market rear camber arm to replace the stock one's because got sick of having to buy new rear tyres every few months. Can anyone please let me know what the best adjustment length would be. I don't have the old ones anymore to get measurements. I'm guessing the stock measurement minus a few mm would do it. Please any help on replacing them would be fantastic I've watched the YouTube clips but no-one talks about how long to set the camber arm to.
    • Heh. I copied the link to the video direct, instead of the thread I mentioned. But the video is the main value content anyway. Otherwise, yes, in Europe, surely you'd be expected to buy local. Being whichever flavour of Michelin, Continental or Pirelli suits your usage model.
