Hi, I've just bought a Greddy V-Spl cooler (yet to fit it), and was just wondering a few things...

1. Is a pod filter needed (i.e. cannot use the stock airbox) for one of these on a 32 Gts-t?

2. Do u need to cut a hole in the arch (wheel) to accomodate the piping?

3. Is it a simple bolt on, or is a bit of stuffing around need to bolt these things up.?

4. Is a different Battery needed for this cooler (to make way for the piping)?

5. How do these things go as far as radiator flow?

6. How do these rate against the stock cooler?

7. What boost is anyone running with one of these on an RB20DET?

Any help would be appreciated...

Cheers David

1. No standard airbox is fine.

2. Hole in the wheel arch???

3. It's a straight bolt on and only very minor modifications are needed to fit it.

4. All depends on the size of your current battery as they come from Jap land with heaps of different styles and sizes.

5. Your radiator will still get ample air flow.

6. Flow much better than the standard cooler.

7. If the only mod you have/will have is a cooler and say exhaust, about 12 psi would be ample. If you would like to run more boost, it is recommended that you upgrade your fuel system and either remap your standard ECU or get some form of aftermarket ECU.

make sure u have all of the support mods like said above..

get exhaust- prefferably turbo back, i.e dump pipe, front pipe and cat back..

get a panel or pod filter... a fuel pump is not needed if ur running abt 12 psi..

however, a tune is defenite... Get a piggy back ecu if u can afford it like an SAFC or emanage, or even get ur stock ECU remapped...

its all in the tune.. it does not mean the more psi u run, the more power u will achieve..

hope that helps..

Hi, Does anyone know if the R34 VSPL Intercooler kit its going to interfere with the standard snorkel and after looking at the pics of what comes in the kit, do I need any additional piping made up or does it just use the existing piping?

Thanks heaps. Pics if possible of what comes in the kit would be good (if it isnt what is shown on www.nengun.com). I have a cold airbox that uses the factory snorkel at the moment and wouldnt want make it a waste when i get the cooler.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
