As you may or may not know I own a VL Turbo and I'm sick of my auto. Regardless of whether an auto will launch faster or what, I want to under go a manual conversion. I've weighed up my options and a vlt gearbox is out due to supply and demand issues. I know that the R33 box is lsightly stonger than a R32 but by how much? How much a R32 gearbox stand, what power levels? Is it worth spending the extra grand or so and the pain of getting the speedo drive re-wired for that extra strength? How much power do you 32 owners run through your gearboxes and how are they holding up?

My old skyline had an RB20 with around 180 rwkw and heaps of torque....

I blew the box that came with it after 4 months of hardcore drifting, which to me seems pretty strong...

If I built another skyline I'd definately go straight to the R33 box as that's what most people run behind modified RB26 conversions with mega rwkw....

If you drive hard in a modified car, do not hesitate for the extra $1000 or what ever for R33...

Good luck bro.

the 32 box is a disposable item if you have torque.... even just 250rwhp and abuse leads to noisey layshaft bearings...

with the toque of teh 3L id say you'll go through atleast two a year if its making power

teh 25 is a far more pleasant box to drive than the mx7

25det box is the go you'd probably get a good one for $1200 ish

some of the hard hitting R33s should be able to give you of a personal account off how much rwhp they are producing and whether or not that is being used on teh strip with slix

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
