I just bought that manual boost controller off ebay which every1 is raving on about...

i have put it in where the stock Boost solonoid sits. (GTR)

but thing is i dont think i am running more boost even with the bleed valve fully open...

i have no idea if it's working or not. i can not seem to feel any diff.

it's more like it has decreased my boost

o was running 0.4 bar boost 7psi..

now the question is do the bleed valves work in a GTR?

danny I will give you some advice which may sound harsh. don't screw around with it. you clearly don't know what you are doing. if you stuff it up and there is no pressure feed going to both of the wastegate acuators then you will be running unlimited boost, that is the wastegate wont open at all and your car will feel like an absolute rocket ship, then it will die. ask druzilla about this problem. you will then be mightily pissed off and think why the f**k didn't i just get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it for me?

by all means get someone to explain it to you so you can learn how to fit it next time but if you aren't sure don't do it.

fitting bleed valves is a simple thing, but one that so many people have stuffed up. it's not nice when you do.

mate you have already re-built your GTR a number of times I'm just trying to save you from another one.

bah shut up

nah .. i know what u mean mate..

but i think these are not ment for GTR's as they have 2 turbos instead of 1 which the manual 1's are suppose to run off

hm.. i dunno i found me self an AVCR so i'll see how that goes

haha, i'm not trying to be a c0ck head. ;) I think you know I'm just trying to save you headache.

The bleed valve and the AVC-R both work on the same principal, they intercept the pressure feed going to the two wastegate acuators then they bleed off some air to trick the wastegate into opening at a higher boost pressure than it normally would.

so just replacing the bleed valve with an AVCR wont help.

FTR the bleed valve will work fine with a GTR twin set-up providing it's installed correctly.

hmn...yes.. installed correctly

funny though i followed the insuractions and still not right...

i better just leave it to the pro's

hey btw did i tell ya i got 170KW at all four on 7psi??? hehehe

Easiest way is to block up all the factory lines, then mount the bleed valve on the passengers side of the engine bay. Get yourself 2 vacuum tees, tee of the charchol canister to the input of the bleed valve and then tee the output of the bleed valve and run one line to each wastegate actuator.

  • 3 weeks later...

yeah dont touch it :D:)

mine wasnt due to me playing around with boost, the mechanic found that almost all of the rubber hoses on the turbo side were corroded, resulting in a leak, resulting in unlimited boost, resulting in 2 fried pistons.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
