Peter Moore - Used to compete in Targa and GP Rally.

,

Yeah SB, and he races on a shoe string too LOL.

$160k, Suspension 20k, brakes >15k, ABS trickery ???k, Motec ???k and the list goes on... But you don't get Jason behind the wheel.

All you Skyline junkies want to that your lucky stars they won last year, because with the ensuing rule changes and upgrades to STi & Evo, that was their last shot... (and by JaW's own admition could have ended in tears a number of times) the fact it didn't is testiment to his skill, one of the better spacers going round.

I reckon $160 is a bit steep. Can get 2 x IX's for that.... or STi's, or maybe a Focus 4WD Group N...

One thing is for sure John probabley wouldn't care if it sat in the corner and gathered dust.

Ciao

South Korea

I heard a rumor going round that the Garwoods actually one, cause of timing error on day 2. Dunno if there is any truth behind it though.

How are the rule changes looking? The newsletter said the new rules were still being worked on.

There might have been a timing glitch on leg two that saw the entire field cop an extra 8 seconds. Garwood might have appealed, but even with the 8 second reduction applied, he was still 6 seconds short of victory.

The proposed rules for 2007+ are still being deliberated over and will be a fair while yet.

so is it the usual "oh the GT-R won ban that sucker :)"

I gave up the targa idea when they made it so much more expensive to compete! no mods to your 20k car thanks, but you are welcome to turn up with a factory modded car at 400k...... hmmm

williamsf1 - The GTR is still eligible to run and will be for many years, it’s just not fast enough to win anymore!

BTW - When wasn't TT expensive to compete in?! :P

The Z Tune is ineligible. Minimum1500 units must be made for models produced onwards from 01/01/2003.

I wasnt saying the whites car was not illegal now, just that a few years ago when we were running it was pretty much open slather, and made the cheaper cars easily modded to keep up with the hi po cars... 993 TT etc etc...

now? its just bring thy cheque book and win... sad :P

Sorry, misinterpreted what you meant.

A good result is still achievable at TT on a budget:

Warwick Rooklyn's Evo7 is good example. It's currently for sale for $55k and ready to run... that car has finished as high as fourth at TT and great results in other events.

Steve Glenny's old R33 GTR V-Spec N1 is also for sale in freshened condition as it finished TT second (for the second time) for $69.5K

If anyone thinks they can win TT or even get on the podium by just buying an expensive car and turning up… they are kidding themselves. When the first three cars finish the event over EIGHT MINTUES ahead of the fourth, you quickly see that TT is now as competitive as any professional motor sport and unless you are willing to push VERY hard your not in the hunt. At the start the event that pack of three fast cars was six! It was only two years ago that Tony Sullen's won TT in a WRX of all things. On paper, even the car presented had nothing on a 996T/GT2/GT3 or GTR, but he drove his heart out wheeling that car to his abilities and beyond... and as for the Gallardo’s that ran last year, sure they might have been quick, but the quick one didn’t win, didn’t even finish and their’s no awards for parking your car half way. I think the bar will be raised for 2006, but that the natural progression of motor sports. Everyone looks for an advantage, but it’s about much more than just writing a cheque.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
