Indication On Performance

Recommended Posts

hey ppl,

I've finally got my skyline organised

I've bought a 96 R33 series 2 and i'm going to get the following mods put on. But before i do i want to see what sort of power figure i can look to get.

The mods are as follows:

Intercooler: Hybrid (really big one)

Turbo: Garrett GT35 (600hp)

BOV: Turbosmart V-Port Type 3

Boost Cont: Blitz Spec R

Exhaust: Stainless manifold, 3' dump, hi-flow cat, 3' out to 5' tip

ECU: Apexi Power FC

Coils: SplitFire set

Airflow: Z32 Airflow meter

Injectors: HKS 550cc

Fuel Pump: Bosch 040 Intank (600hp)

Clutch: Exedy brass button

Pistons: Wiseco forged pistons.

I'm aiming to get around 300 rwkw. So if you guys could give me some ideas on power figures.

thanks heaps.

Thanks heaps.

I would say 340 rwkw is gettable. Some limitations;

1. Is the GT35R internally or externally gated?

2. Standard conrods, may be an issue. At the very least go for ARP rod bolts.

3. The combined dump will compromise response if you are going internally gated

4. 3" exhaust is a bit small for 300+ rwkw, 3.25" would be better.

5. Headgasket or block O'rings?

6. Standard cams, not a good idea past 300 rwkw as they compromise the average power considerably.

You do have some items on the list that are not necessary;

A. BOV: Turbosmart V-Port Type 3, is that for noise effect?

B. Boost Cont: Blitz Spec R, a Power FC boost control kit would make more sense

C. Coils: SplitFire set, the standard coils will do just fine at that power level

I notice that there are no brake or suspension mods listed, you are not going to mcuh success with power down with standard suspension. brakes. well its gunna be a fast car, it will need to stop just as fast.

:P cheers :)

After buying a K&N panel filter, and fitting a turbotech boost control, I had Mercury Motorsport fit a Whiteline Handling Pack.

I am very happy with the results, my GTT handles and corners real nice now.

I guess my first track day will dictate whether I continue with suspension or put a CES twin dump zorst on.

don't worry about max hp, durability is also another area you might want to look into, So what ever your tuner can get, wind it back 10% and treat it with respect and you'll be fine.

i see one big thing missing. a proper bottom end.

Pistons wont be enough.

a GT30 will get yo 300rwkw with far better response if you ahve it build properly and specific, not one off th shelf.

Search for more info as there has been a squillion posts already.

(and my setup is for sale too :P)
