Quick question,

I got pulled over today on the eastern for speeding, i always give the car a good squirt after the hairpin from hoddle

I pass the cop 3 lanes away and i saw him pretty much straight away and got on the brakes but it was too late by then.

He stated i was doing easily more then 140, and that he should take my car of me, took my license then sat in his car for 10 minutes then came out and didnt give me a notice, handed me back my license and said "ull be getting something in the mail"

He had no radar just his calibrated speedo, and 30 years experience.

Question is am i screwed...how come he didnt give me an infringement notice - dont they have to give u one on the spot, i cant find any info anywhere.

as far as i know to issue a ticket they have to have a radar read out, or be able to follow you for 50mtrs? i think thats right. most of the time when they dont get a read out but can tell your speeding they try and get you to admit how fast you were going and book you on that.

ps. same thing happened to me, but i got nothing in the mail.

See a solicitor.  Take him to court for being anti-skyline!!

cbf i was in the wrong, i was just expecting a infringement on the spot but i received f**k all, so my question was are they allowed to sned u one in the mail

oh and blade... to answer ur question i believe the only recorse you have is to bend over and take it like man!!!

hahaha

"thank u sir may i have another!"

thats cheap, he should of given it too me on the spot, obvously he couldnt make up his mind on what speed i was doing

they can send it in the mail, so i dare say your getting a court summons as he's going for your license.

Wait till it comes then see whats in the statement etc.

If its over 50mteres then a good lawyer will win it for you.

ouch.... that sux,,, i DRIVE. n is it true they have 5 operational speed cameras on the eastern? DRIVINGfor 2 years n neva seem to get busted *touches wood*

but cops on the eastern are bs! i drove home from northcote from work one saturday nite and was tailed and overtaken by a cop doin 120+. when he was on my ass he pressured me to go bit fasta so i did 110, he then over took me n did 120+ (i was doing 120 behind him all the way to springvale rd). the good thing that came out of this though it is that everyone decided to keep with the cop so we all did 120 lol.

EDIT - R31Nismoid

I shouldnt need to say why. PM me if you dont know.

A simillar thing happend to me. I was doing a bit over 90 in the back streets near my joint, and 2 unmarked cop cars pinned me. the first cop was being a pain the arse, the second said something like "Youll be lucky to get away with JUST loosing your licence for this." but the pair of them didnt get a speed on me and i didnt confes to what speed i was doing so. 2 weeks later i got a fine for 9Km/h over the speed limit (1 point - i didnt argue with that) and also for driving a car too powerfull, driving a manule and not to mention driving an un-registered car...

For your sake lets just hope they dont send anything. However if you do get something, If I was you, I'd take it to court.

Did you admit you were speeding? Thats probably what he was trying to get you to do. Chances are he knew you were doing it, but knew he couldn't prove it so he did the next best thing, scare you - nothing worse than 'waiting' to get in trouble, sometimes worse than the punishment itself.

Take a look here for good links www.roadsense.com.au

I believe it is a minimum of 200m for a speed check with a calibrated speedo. A good lawyer will destroy him. Admit nothing and deny everything.

thanks for the replys,

i didnt admit to speeding, however i did ask him how does he verify what speed i was doing when he doesnt have a radar,

and he just said he has 30 years of experience, and he knows that i was easly over 100, against his CALIBRATED speedo lol.

i however was in the wrong so i didnt argue, but i didnt admit to what speed i was doing at all. I felt guilty as hell, cause it was obvious i was hammering it ;)

what kind of fine do you get for driving a car too powerful on p-plates?

my mate had the same thing happen.was doing 80kms but cop didnt have a radar.all he said was ive had 20yrs experience and i no u where doing 80kms,ssaid he was getting something in the mail and never did

what kind of fine do you get for driving a car too powerful on p-plates?

They didnt itemise it. they just sent one letter with a $853 fine inside. they said the fine for driving an unregistered car was min of $511 and then I think the other $342 was for speeding and the power to wehgt. A mate reccons the fine is something like $50 or $60 for power to weight.

ah cool. nothin major then...

as long as they dont get me on a daily basis lol

    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
