Bass. If scoop is bolted up under plastic snorkel is it fare 2 say that the air has a smoother transition, do u think it matters?. Was looking at Driving Light bracket set up in S2 2nite. 2 thoughts : 1 - cut a slot in scoop 4 original light bracket 2 run through, 2 - make up a new bracket that comes up and out of scoop hole and back 2 rad. support. Suppose it is difficult 2 no which way 2 go until u get a new 1 mounted in a car. Hope thoughts help.

hey guys.

With the smooth air track, I was thinking about this, and although the ULTIMATE version would be the smoothest, I don't think in our cases that it will make a lot of difference.

It will come down to which is the easiest to make and install.

I'll be showing you how to make it super cool with foam in some pics when the first one goes on....

Gentlemen,

okay, finally I have come up with the two designs to choose from.

the first one is the design as per SKs sample.

I have modified the mounting points slightly.

This uses a long scoop which mounts to the bottom of the standard plastic Snorkel.

the second one is a different version of this where the scoop bolts to the airguide itself.

I think that both methods are quite good, the second one might look a little more industrial what with the four bolts. I think it also might look a bit cleaner than the long scoop.

Both types could be further improved by adding some stiff foam to guide the air into the plastic scoop, but that is stuff that you guys can do at home!

Let me know what you think will be the best.

SK, I'm keen for your comments too.

mmmmm, hard to say, i think the second one would be better because the scoop is mounted to the deflector, whereas the first one is only held by the plastic clips that hold the airbox scoop, so it would be more rigid, and personally i think it looks neater.

The big question is, which one would flow better? i'm not sure.

Guys look at the scoop in the bonnet nissan put, its 3 little crappy channels.

Id go for the 2nd as its a single peice unit. Removable and easly serviceable.

How well can a scoop flow really? As long as it ducts air into there, youll be sweet. If you want better flow, cut your bonnet like i did to mine, then you will have ultimate flow.

Good job on designs. Looking at pics I am thinking 2nd so we don't have 2 nut and bolt the duct 2 make it secure! (difficult 2 get in under rad. support). I see u have 2 securing bolt holes in center, r u not planing 2 have securing bolts on either ends, 2 aircon. rad. mounting point or grille light bracket points on S2?.

Hi Skid Kid.

the R34 GTT, R33 GTS-T, R33 GTR guide are all secured with only two bolts. The guides are very stiff. with the Stag guides going into a slot at the front, they will be even stronger.

Cheers

Pete

PS. I might be able to get a sample of the secon style made this week.

Stay Tuned.

Top News.

My other group buy parts are being made today.

The Stag sample will also be cut!!!!

YAY, so by Monday, I would like to borrow a couple of cars, namely a series I and series II to see if these things fit!

BASS OUT

r u gonna make any without the air scoop thing in it as mine is running custom airbox/pods with cold air feed from underneath rather than the normal stock position? so i want it just the solid flat panel with no hole.

plz plz plzzzz :)

Alex, I'll call you later today when I know that the sample has been made.

Cruise Liner. Just cos you have a 2.7 ltr Stag, doesn't make you special or anything :)

Of course I can o one without the scoop. No problems.

    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
