Guest BigRod33
Hi Guys after much deliberation and thousands of questions, i have finally decided on a path that i wish to take with my 33. has anyone here used UAS for anything other than supply of parts. I spoke to Mark, there and he sounds like a guy that knows his stuff and i am wondering if any of you have story to tell about work that he has done for you. or the cost of having mods done by UAS, as opposed to other builders. if you know of anyone that does similar quality work or better, or even a bit cheaper then let me know that also. thanks in advance rod Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8533-uas-question/ Share on other sites
Timmy G
I haven't even gotten my first service done for my Skyline, but I heard good things about Hill's Motorsport (ex-mechanic from UAS). HSVKLR
I have so many stories about UAS you wouldnt possibly have the time to listen to them all...... But let me just say Mark is a great engineer.... i agree with you there however UAS as an operation couldnt organise a root in a brothel. F@cking pathetic. Had my car serviced there a month ago. There were a few other items aside from the service that needed to be done... let me just say the car was more f@cked when i got it back than we i dropped it off. They'd buggered up most of the stuff i told them to do and forgotten to even attempt the rest. Additionally and more worrying is the fact that i said to them as i dropped the car off "NO ADD-ONS... NO EXTRA COSTS.... I HAVE NO EXTRA MONEY.... CALL ME IF YOU FIND A PROB" guess what i get the bill and they've overcharged me by $90 for rotating my tyres!!!! Get f@cked (unfortunately i didnt check the bill under 3days later). So basically they wroughted me. Then it took great arm twisting on my behalf to get them to fix all the shit they broke.... And they were rude/difficult to deal with.... Also they forgot to call me when my car was finished... pffft thanks guys. They are also expensive like really expensive - e.g. $940 quote for timing belt and water pump. I rang my mates mechanic (Josh - owner of ProConcept at West Ryde 9807 4488). This guy is the best he quoted $630 and charged me $600!!! He's cheaper on services too and doesnt f@ck you round... Basically UAS are a big well renowned workshop that charges big cos they're well known not cos they're necessarily good... Hope this helps.... Guest BigRod33
ok hsvklr, theres always two sides to every story. can anyone provide me with a good report of work performed by UAS. basically what i have decided to build is a saturday night special. i intend to fit a 4litre lexus motor + Turbo running an auto as this car will be used for drags. it needs to run on pump fuel as i live about 700k from brisbane am targetting 500rwkw. i am looking for someone that can supply and/or build all the parts required. i want some level of reliability so do not want parts like gearbox and diffs breaking all the time. i am prepared to spend the money necessary to build this project. you guys have been really helpful so far, keep it coming Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8533-uas-question/#findComment-124410 Share on other sites
d0p3y
You're putting a Lexus engine into a R33?!? Interesting...... P.S. Any bad stories/complaints about UAS are probrably best sent via PM to BigRod33 rather than posted into the thread itself. HSVKLR
Id probably be getting into contact with Croydon Racing Developments at Silverwater NSW... they appear to be a neat outfit with the expertise needed to pull this one off... By the way, i like your plans!!! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8533-uas-question/#findComment-124429 Share on other sites

HSVKLR
ok one more that i would highly recommend - have had dealings with them and have been impressed. Im also having them do some more major stuff in times to come on my R32 - ADVAN Performance Centre Pty Ltd. They're also at Silverwater NSW. www.advan.net.au ph) 02 9647 1326 These guys know their stuff - actually one guy Peter (he owns it). They're kiwis (so they know their Skylines). They also know their mods and would definitely be worth a call or a visit. Roy
Sounds like you have a plan, i have had dealings with UAS and none have been that bad, have been overcharged by almost $200.00, and wasnt all that happy with the clutch. So i voted with my feet, and no longer give them my business. Quality of the work was ok, but wasnt what i wanted. As for the Toyota V8, dont want to rain on your parade, i wish you all the luck with the project, but i think the DOHC might mean the engine is too wide for the engine bay. (thats the main reason GEN III Chevs are still pushrod, as they are a more compact) Also have you seriously looked into the issue of legalities, such a displacement increase combined with forced induction may mean the vehicle is unregisterable, so Sat nights would be out. Love to see something like this happen, i have considered a naturally aspirated VH45 (Nissan 4.5L Quad cam 32 valve V8), which by NSW RTA regs would be legal into a 240Z. Anyway like i said food for thought, wish you all the best with your project. Guest BigRod33
roy, i also considered the VH45 as i thought this would be an easier match but a few people that i spoke to, made the observation that the lexus motor was a better base power-plant, no-one provided me with justification for this comment however i would love to get some ideas from people to deny/confirm this, as i would love to stay all nissan if possible Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8533-uas-question/#findComment-124469 Share on other sites
