I've been told by an exhaust workshop that the difference between a single 3" dump pipe and the split dump pipe is minimal, roughly about 3kw gain (they could have told me otherwise just to make money out of me buying the split pipe)

I just dont see how couple hundred dollars extra could justify getting the split dump comparing to the gain from the single pipe (3" here). Of course if you could get a better deal from a workshop having the full system installed with the split dump then that might be alright.

My 2c

If you have not done turbo back exhaust yet, then I would do that before doing a FMIC.

I put on the justjap cooler.

Now pushing a solid 0.7 bar up to red line.

With the justjap intercooler did you notice a loud noise while on boost. I am worried that the noise is indicating a lack of flow. I am also a little nervous that i have done something wrong (ie connected the vacume line to the wrong place).

I'd say speak with BATMBL on these forums for all your dump, front pipe and CAT needs.

good price and quality.

the just jap non branded hybrid style intercooler kits are a bargain and will work perfectly on your R33.

I doubt very much that any $2000 intercooler kit from ARC or hks or what ever will give you ANY different outcome than the non branded kit.

for the $1000 you save on that, you could get a POWER FC to make full use of your car's new found breathing ability.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
