akeenan
yeah i would top up the steering fluid. As it only comes on during hard braking the fluid is sloshing all over the place possible below the sensor. Stoffle
My HICAS light goes on too, just seems to go on after maybe 15 minutes of driving. (Does the R33 hicas have fluid? or is it fully electric?). Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8673-hicas-light/#findComment-134111 Share on other sites
Arsn
My hicas light has started to come on after a bit of driving too. I've just put on an aftermarket steering wheel, but the bloke said that it should be ok. I've checked the fluid level and it is all good, so i would have to guess that it is the steering wheel. Anyone know a good place to go to get a boss kit for a momo steering wheel that doesn't screw around with hicas? rs73
Is the pwr steering fluid for HICAS uses the same top up location as the one for front steering in the engine bay? Or is it separate at the back? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8673-hicas-light/#findComment-160435 Share on other sites
R33_Cam
its either the boss kit for aftermarket wheels, or a little white plastic thing that sits on your steering shaft, it goes brittle and breaks on the 33's, and then mucks up the sensor for HICAS Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8673-hicas-light/#findComment-171249 Share on other sites
Airzone
I am having problems with my hicas... After about 15 - 20 minutes of driving, the light comes on. There's no noticable changes to the way the car drives, and I can see the rear wheels move ever so slightly while steering to full lock. The first thing I did was to top up the power steering. I have been trying to get the diagnostics to appear, with no luck. Either I'm doing it wrong, or there's something wrong with a sensor like brakes or speed, etc... So just to verify my procedure: 1) Turn off car, leave in neutral 2) Turn it on 3) 20o left and right 5 times. 4) Pump brake 5 times 5) Press brake again 6) Drive (or roll, really) 5 metres ahead really slow. 1) From the time I turn on the car, to the time I start the 5m drive, how many seconds do I have? 2) In step 5, do I hold the brake in slightly and heel-toe it foward, or tap it in and out? My car is a stock R33 '95 model. The 4WS appears to be fully electric. crooser
i used to have this prob - just went away about a yr ago by itself. whenever it came on, i just pulled over and restarted car... gone for another couple of weeks. the only time it would come on for me was when doing long straight stretches of road that required next to no steering. i used to drive a same long stretch of road frequently - 7 out of 10 times the hicas light would come on... ALWAYS at the same spot give or take 100m Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/8673-hicas-light/#findComment-172727 Share on other sites
akeenan
and I can see the rear wheels move ever so slightly while steering to full lock. im dont understand what you mean here? if you are saying your rear wheels move when you are not in diagnostic mode just sitting on the spot and you turn your wheel you are wrong! Skyline 4ws only opreates when you are travelling and not stationary unless you are in diagnostic mode!
