i was just after some advice on installing a new hybrid GT Spec on to an r33 series II and have come in to a bit of a dilemma. i have the original piping and on the top pipe there is a little hose attached but there is no spot for it on the new piping. eg the pictures that i have attached. some advice would be much appreiciated.

Whoa, resize those pictures *headache*

In answer to your question, the hose is for your boost solenoid. All you need to do is find another vacuum hose somewhere (I used the one that goes to the stock bypass valve) cut it and whack in a T piece, then run it back to the solenoid.

or you could drill a hole in the new pipe. whatever you do just make sure you tap into the pressure side of the piping otherwise the waste gate will not open and will over boost.

Other than that, how was installing the kit yourself and how long has it taken. I am looking at getting the same kit soon as summer is coming fast. Can i ask where you brought it from too?

got if from flyn performance in sydney. bought it on ebay. delivered to melbourne $689 including freight and insurance. so far it has taken me a couple of hours

That's ok. From the pipe that you swapped over, it connects to a cast metal pipe that then connects to the throttle body, then intake manifold. On the cast metal pipe right after your replaced pipe there is a 90 degree bend before it goes across the top of the engine, just after the bend there is a valve on the back side of the pipe. This is the bypass valve, and it should have a pipe of about 1 inch diameter going all the way back to before your turbo. The valve has a small black vacuum hose going to it, which is what you need to T into.

See how you go and let me know if you're still having trouble.

Yes that's right the small hose. Hope it all goes well! Make sure you have all the bits you need before you cut it.

i guys, i have hooked up my I/C as the same as in the pics above. i have a turbosmart bleed valve, but for some reason the boost wont raise above 9psi. does anyone know whats the go?

There is no vacuum at the original location only positive pressure I have the same kit and screwed a nipple into the new piping. You can T it into somewhere where there is vacuum hose (eg of the inlet manifold) but I suggest you put a one way valve in as well so your actuator doesn’t get effected the negative pressure and wear over time.

Sorry, but that aint correct .. there definatley IS vacuum at the original location. What makes you think there isn't?

Hook your boost gauge up to the original location and there will not be vacuum. Mine was T'ed into one of the hoses comming off the inlet manifold I had my car tuned at ICE performance Nigal told me to use a one way valve if I was to keep it in this location.

Hey guys, I also bought the same kit from flyn, i got it a while ago & will be fitting it myself, but just haven't had a chance too, but it is sorted for next Tuesday when I will have everything I need.

Anyway, included in the kit I have is a 4ft long hose with a t-piece already in it, it should have come in yours too. I haven't looked tonight (only just recalled this thread now it's too dark to look), but judging from what you said earlier about the solenoid etc, this should be what it's for. I am guessing you can use this to replace one of the lines, as it has 2 outlets. I don't have a digital camera so I can't take a photo of it, but it did come in the kit & I would say that's what it's for.

For anyone else, if I can get hold of a camera for Tuesday I am going to take step-by-step pics of what I do for the fmic install, I'm sure the mods could make that a sticky & it will at least give a guideline of what do do if you are willing to get hands on with your car. :(

    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
