I enquired about the Free Trade Agreement with customs officers at Clyde, they clarified that it only applies to goods manufactured in the USA, & there has been some confusion over this point.

example A: goods mfg in USA, purchased from USA, no import duty

example B: goods mfg in Canada, purchased from USA, 15% import duty

example C: goods mfg in USA, purchased from Asia, 15% import duty

Also there are concessions for certain vehicle parts, but i didn't get the lowdown on that.

so... buyer beware !

Never had a parcel opened by Customs from the USA since January, if it is post marked "from the USA" they seem to let it through. If the value is high enough they slap some GST on it, but never had any duty applied.

The definitions of "made in", "manufactured in", "product of" etc are just as blurred as in Australia. I think it is just too hard for them.

 cheers

The 15% duty is long gone from anywhere , its now 10% from countries other than USA ( since jan 1-05 ) however bigdatto is correct but in practice what SK said goes , no-one will open a parcel from USA but dont forget the 10% GST is payable always .

I only mentioned this because they did open the parcel (in front of me) & said "WTF is this ?? (to use the parlance of our times). If I had let the parcel continue to the post office I'm sure it would have remained sealed. But xmas had come early & I couldn't wait !!

    • Hey Kaz, Unfortunately I am not at home currently and wont be for a few more months so I do not have access to my files or CAD. And at this point I prefer to keep the files to myself as I want to potentially make a few more pairs and see if they will sell within the EU before openly marketing them. But the way it's shaped and how small it is, I don't think you can fit both an indicator and a fog light onto the same surround, unless they were very small LED-type clusters.
    • I’ve just installed a Uniclutch sport into my R32. I’ve been blown away by it… it drives like a stock Toyota Corolla. It doesn’t make sense to me that a performance clutch can drive this well. I was about to pull the trigger on a Nismo Coppermix twin plate when I discovered the Uniclutch and decided to give that a shot instead. They’ve changed the game and I couldn’t be happier.    I was previously using an Extreme cushioned button clutch with lightened flywheel. I’m still using the same lightened flywheel with the Uniclutch.
