I dunno if we are or not. You tell me if we are talking about me... Although you didnt use a question mark, so its a bit ambiguous.

You asked a question so i answered it. Thats generally what i try to do around here when im not on the "use search button band wagon"

Good on stace for running an 11. Even if it was a 13 or a 15, i wouldn't laugh. People are giving it a shot.

Better than not or on the street, just remember i aint calling people names :)

Of course the modes aren't important  you wouldnt care so much if they werent right?

Certainly not the first time i've raised the point (choice of word over biatchin')... certainly not the first time you've dropped them either.

Much of a muchness really

Paul time to start taking to the car with the Drill and holesaw! it is simple really, then its off to talk to the composites guys about a carbon laminate :)

or you could just get stace to drive it  there is 60kg surely :)

I know GTR-700 is on a high fibre diet right now, so maybe thats your next move also?

you should be able to easily get the car to 1250kg dry....

Bit of a joke....ok so were talking about you now are we

My wife runs 11's.....so your 12.1 is the laughing stock now

Dyno modes are not important to us....you were the tool who thought it needed mentioning!

EDIT: Ive just been informed that this isn't the only thread that youve been bitchin' about this ....... you really must get over it. PM me if you feel you have more to say....as this is getting off topic

Can we possibly have one thread without the dick swining/bitchfest, I mean is it even possible?

A few people around here seem to be overly obsessed with continually ramming home how much HP they have or how fast they have run down the quarter.

To think I was going to post a thread with my build results and tuning numbers but with the way such threads have been going lately, I might decline.

Ah, good old GTR-700, I actually had a quick browse at exvitermini.com a few minutes ago to see if Mario had posted any further updates! :)

Yeah GTR-700 is just a shell with some expensive shocks and motec data-logging cables right now! There is nothing left on or in this car.... All I know is that it is on a serious diet, and 2 engines are in the build

Get that car down to say 1000kg and now that would get me to a WSID to watch :)

oh and to all those that say its not possible to get a GT-R to that weight, think again....

now.... back to the topic :)

I want to see Marko and Nick running on the same day!!! and while we are at it, Mik should have his car going by then also????

I have no idea Mik if you are staying with GTRS? or going bigger?

Hey Mate,

Nah I think you didn't get what I was meaning... basically I think Paul and Stace have done an Uber job!!! and if they make 400 or 450 or 500 who cares? Im sure that is the last thing they really care about....

What I was getting at with the 10.3 there are a lot more factors that just power figures to getting a good time :)

-driver

-suspension

-gearing

-weight!

-mechanical grip

-aero

-drag

-weather

-track condition

I'm no Drug racer, but those are to name a few... I would say there is more to be gained in suspension, tyres and weight reduction than most consider to do, and having taken a peek at Twoogle with you that day out at the SAU show, it certainly was heading in the right direction in those things ;)

I'm going to be at EC on the weekend, you should come and watch a few GT-Rs in action... turning :P

how many more km to go mate also? I can't wait to see how well the new engine goes... :)

Ben

ive clocked almost 2000km so dyno tune will be next week with crd!

there are definitely many other key factors in running a great time like pauls - my point was that u need over 400awkw to run these times ;)

Cant wait to see your tune results Marko :) Im planning some nice long drives to clock up those run-in km's

If I got my way, my car would be on the road tonight...I hate waiting for stuff

Nah...definately not going bigger than the GTRS's

Nick,

I did the good old bathurst run for the 1st time (via berry/penrith etc...) & i clocked up 800km in 1 day - plenty of gear changing with hill climbs etc...

Hows ur car? I spoke to Jim & saw ur 33 (btw its tidy)

When will it be ready for you to pick up?

Marko.

Marko, thanks mate

At this rate my guess is around 2 weeks give or take.

The Bathurst run sounds great, its been some time since I have really taken the car for agood drive so it will be great to hit the open road.

PS: Check you Pm

Ben,

Great to see its come along so nicely. It's been a fair while in coming but it looks like you've made all the right decisions.

Now you just have to hope the NSW cursed SBS doesn't hit you!

But it would be great to see you down in Vic sometime - have you come down and play where the real track GTR's hang out!

    • perhaps i should have mentioned, I plugged the unit in before i handed over to the electronics repair shop to see what damaged had been caused and the unit worked (ac controls, rear demister etc) bar the lights behind the lcd. i would assume that the diode was only to control lighting and didnt harm anything else i got the unit back from the electronics repair shop and all is well (to a point). The lights are back on and ac controls are working. im still paranoid as i beleive the repairer just put in any zener diode he could find and admitted asking chatgpt if its compatible   i do however have another issue... sometimes when i turn the ignition on, the climate control unit now goes through a diagnostics procedure which normally occurs when you disconnect and reconnect but this may be due to the below   to top everything off, and feel free to shoot me as im just about to do it myself anyway, while i was checking the newly repaired board by plugging in the climate control unit bare without the housing, i believe i may have shorted it on the headunit surround. Climate control unit still works but now the keyless entry doesnt work along with the dome light not turning on when you open the door. to add to this tricky situation, when you start the car and remove the key ( i have a turbo timer so car remains on) the keyless entry works. the dome light also works when you switch to the on position. fuses were checked and all ok ive deduced that the short somehow has messed with the smart entry control module as that is what controls the keyless entry and dome light on door opening   you guys wouldnt happen to have any experience with that topic lmao... im only laughing as its all i can do right now my self diagnosed adhd always gets me in a situation as i have no patience and want to get everything done in shortest amount of time as possible often ignoring crucial steps such as disconnecting battery when stuffing around with electronics or even placing a simple rag over the metallic headunit surround when placing a live pcb board on top of it   FML
    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
