franks

usually most mechanics can do fleet servicing, my car is a fleet pruchase as well, and I just tell the mechanic before hand, they ring your fleet company, and charge the service to them!

peice of cake.. I even got some mods done on fleet card!

service? whats in a service really...

maybe sparkies, but prob not if youve had any moda done lately cos you would have already changed em...fluids, oil/filter, thats about it

all other stuff u would b changin with mods anyway..or just upgrading stuff for more hp, if ya unsure just get a mate who knows a bit about cars and do those simple things...

they might charge to chang this and that and but u might not need em, and if they do change other stuff its prob not gonna b top quality stuff so just upgrade those parts to quality aftermarket stuff when u put more mods on ya car.

woa!!! i think you got ripped ... u could have done all that yourself for around $200 including the plugs. None of that stuff is difficult and they're the same as in any other car.

But i've been there before so i can't talk, but that is why i try and do those service things myself these days unless there is a problem.

1. Warm up car slightly so oil is warm

2. Get oil pan ($10 or so)

3. Jack car up slightly so angled towards oil plug

4. Pull oil drain plug - watch old oil drain out into pan until done

5. Replace oil drain plug

5. Unscrew old oil filter (its the big pod thing sticking out the bottom left of engine). Its usually just a hand twist job

6. Screw in new oil filter in place.

7. Pour in 5L of good xxxx oil (whatever u prefer) that you picked up for $20 less than they just charged.

8. Drive around, feeling good that u saved $150 and knowing you did it yourself. Charge your mates $50 labour to do the same :)

1 hour job at most.

yeah, i had to give it ago coz no other workshop i know of takes fleetcard and im taking it down the coast this long weekend and i was pushing for time...

i did all my oil changes myself on my previous car, but thats about all i could do :)

i also wanted to check my spark plugs to see if they were fouled, consequently they were and they were replaced. i also wanted a full check on everything else coz im going away this w/e.

sometimes i think we take for granted time and expertise. i'm no expert in cars, i know a little, but i would like to think they would have a higher probability of spotting something wrong and fixed it on the spot. if i did it myself, i would've almost definately missed it and not fixed it!

meggala you missed spark plug change and supply, but i agree, it is a little expensive.

Frankster - When I first got my car serviced at Hills it didn't cost me much. In labour it was around $100 for around 2 hours which is average I'd say. I have bought the following stuff myself at that service or over time and as far as I can see its the main things you need:

Engine Oil (Whatever flavour you like)

Oil filter (Genuine Nissan)

Fuel filter (Genuine Nissan)

Brake Fluid (Motul Dot5)

Gear/Diff Fluid (Nismo)

Sparks (NGK)

Long Life Radiator Coolant (whatever hills put in)

As far as I can see these are most of your wearables. There are other small things you may need to replace everynow and then including some of the washers and there are routine maintenance things you may have to do like lubricate this and that. I'm not sure if $600 for that was a good deal however I guess you get fleet and also you get a pretty piece of paper that is usefull when it comes time to sell.

I like down the bottom

Nice work franks.

Check out other workshops.. thety should all be able to do fleet discounts, even ring your lease provider, they may have a listing of workshops that accept their card.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
