I was under the impression it wasnt mappable, and that plug and play is the best option.

Ive even heard of people trying to run the rb25 on a mapped 32 puter because it's mappable - and cheap.

Al, I think that they use the re-written 32 chip in the 33's. But I know a number of people who've had replacement ROM's in there 33's:D

Plug and play is the best option, if your after flexibility etc. Re-maps are fine for a static setup.

Brett, It is possible, But you seem to have done it so easily that it begs the question, what is special about your car:D Your lucky, haven't had to spend too much to get good results:D

Yeah his afr is flat across the high rev range, drops down and then plateua's. was definately chipped in japland.

I reiterate my understanding - that because the 33 gtst computer has a learn-mode, it is not a simple matter of slapping a chip on. Static or otherwise.

32s get chipped frequently, as do the 180s etc, but the 33s and 34s dont.

Well Steve's brief description of it to me was that I have a very lean patch right in the middle but once you push through that in the high rpm the afr maps almost perfectly....

But if it was just chipped in japan would adding the intercooler and boost control cause the mapping to be inaccurate???

I am going to find out these mysteries soon though as I need a service.... In high RPM running high boost I am starting to notice that the power is retarding.... its hard to explain but it sometimes cough's and splutters a bit but only under high rpm with high boost....

I plan to get the general service done, that problem looked into, try to unlock the mysteries of my car and get the rust cut out of the wheel arch in the near future

Al, They definately can have replacement chips, Macka had one. It might not be the original ROM that is put back in, most likely a complete replacemnt chip.
