don't get me started on new fuel pumps. I put a Bosch unit in mine and it sucked up a piece of rubber which apparently came off the brand new hose I bought to connect it to the fuel filter sock thingo. Long story short the place I bought it from won't pay out as they say not pump fault but foreign object. I now have to buy second brand new pump. Will be going to place where I bought the "fuel line" off to give them a piece of my mind and hopefully recover the hole in my wallet.

and pauls installing mine :Paranoid: !!

Yeah they put it on dyno last Thursday to do a power run and play with EBC ....... and paul goes to me "um i dont think you'll be needing that SAFC cos theres no fuel to control" Ive got a Bosch one going in too

Niz, good thing they identified that there was no fuel going in, you don't want to go through a rebuild due to the car running lean like i just did, particularly partially unemployed. I think mine's cost me nearly $5K now and my old boy and I have done most of the labour ourselves!

I'm sure you'll have more luck than i did with your fuel pump. Paul knows what he's doing doesn't he

Has Paul ever fitted a fuel pump before ...... No. But he's donig it at SST's so help should be on hand if he needs it :( I hope my car cooperates for him ...... my car is very uh female and can be rather uncooperative for Paul.

Yes i have rego to pay in the next couple of days and at the moment thats quite expensive enough!! Good that your car is nearly on the road tho

    • Thanks for the linkie. Certainly always a great deal of help when people post comparisons like these, but I think for now I'll stay away from any semi slicks. I did go ahead and order the sportcontact 7. My buddy has them on his modified A4 and he keeps saying how good they are. For my intended purposes these will probably work real well. I'll report on them once I had the chance to try them out
    • Talk about noisy. Even when I still had the Tomei under the car I could distinctly hear the tires rolling. And I doubt I ever will need maximum grip like on a track. My GTR will maybe never even see the 600hp mark and I need to get used to the car quite a bit before challenging the limits of its handling. For the next winter storage I think I will get a set of these rubber drive-on thingies that have a tire shaped base. Those supposedly really help prevent flat spots.
    • Well our climate is definitely way less hot overall and the weather can be quite picky at times. I just know that during normal road use or even spirited drives there is no way I'd be able to consistently stay in the operating temperature, and constantly changing the tire pressure would also be a royal pain.
    • Input shaft bearing. They all do it. There is always rollover noise in Nissan boxes - particularly the big box. Don't worry about it unless it gets really growly.
