Hi guys, i'm not sure if i've posted it in the right section so excuse me. I was pulled over the other day by a Police officer, popped up the hood etc. He said it's illegal to have a Pod-Filter and FrontMount Intercooler at the same time "only 1 intake modification". It is my first offence as such, and he said i will get a letter from the EPA soon. Should i be expecting a fine to go with it? If so, how much?

Once again, sorry if it's in the wrong section <_<

->? moved to VIC because that's where you are (I think?). Anyway, I do believe you're only allowed one intake mod as said (the pod, or the FMIC, but not both) - but I'll leave the VIC crowd to tell you what's the truth..

yeah if your car's just modified with boltons it should be pretty easy to clear. He's right, you are only allowed one induction mod, which is either a pod filter or a front mount intercooler if you have a GTSt.

Although if you have a boost controller and aftermarket exhaust etc, it might make things a little difficult, but it shouldn't be more than a few hours work to get it back to EPA firendly status.

before you go to epa. check that you *don't* have:

- pod + intercooler

- oil soaked element pod filter

- boost controller

- any type of aftermarket cpu or something that alters air/flow reading

- blow-off valve

- high mount turbo

- make sure you have a cat convertor

- make sure your exhaust is legal noise level

sounds like your car was ok, if you were not given a defect aswell

couple of months ago me an three of my mates got the yellow sticker and the epa letter sent home. also we all got a and fine of around $260 bux for driving a non road worthy car. the fine really sucked and you have a month to pay it off. also the fine got to me like 7 weeks later. I got canaried for wearing tyres and the car being too low and the epa was for to check my exhaust level. hope this answers your question and good luck dudes.

Do u guys reckon it will be alright for me to put on a POD filter or will i get diked by cops.

I got a r33 gtst with a 3.5inch exhaust that is reasonably loud, and a boost gauge. No other mods.

Also whats the max loudness of an exhasut allowed to be. I heard it might be 98db. Has anyone heard about this?

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
