Wilch.. cheers for the heads up

why did no-one mention this earlier :D..

Was it mainly doing it when I was going full throttle, I think it's the fact that the car is running really rich.. was a/f of about 10.5 when I got it dynoed..

I mentioned it on the CB after you overtook me.

I wasn't entirely sure what your nick was, and I kinda forgot about it by the time I put a nick to a car.

edit: were you in the 350Z scathing.. pretty sure when I was overtaking you it was prob in 3rd at about 6000 rpm.. so yeah.. wouldn't surprise me..

we were doing some great speeds through the hills with those bikes around..

Lol.. no worries guys.. thanks for the feedback..

Went for a spin before - doesn't look like it's on low throttle..

For the moment I won't worry.. looks like I could have been the only one doing it though. ;)

350z was a guy from my work

Just out of curiosity, how much does a full respray cost...  I'm talking the whole thing (incl engine bay)

at least 5-6 grand for a "factory finish" paintjob. about 10-12 grand for mirror finish/something like (or even better than?) what high end mercs/beemers have ;)

scathing - what car were you driving.. sorry mate - just trying to find out..

ahhaha that's slack doodz.. but amusing..

so what happened - did you get a ticket..

he said to me and ed I think it was that "i've got a book full of red stickers in my car and I don't mind handing them out.. if you want I can start defecting and your cars will be going home on tow trucks, but I don't think you guys want that.."..

oh well.. did he follow us to Avoca?

I wound down the boost for the trip home.. hmm.. brown smoke.. that's not the best..

Might have to see how it runs when I get home, it's damn hard to see things like that when your driving thanks for letting me know..

it stalled when I came off the freeway.. restarted - blew a heap of shit than seemed to clear up.. wasn't blowing anything out of the ordinary when i was sitting in the car park @ thornleigh when we finished up..

hopefully just the richness, but you never know.. didn't seem to be having issues making boost - so I think the turbo is still ok..

It only seemed to happen when you went full throttle. What boost are ya running?

It's currently running about 8psi I do believe.. I had it wound up to about 10/11 earlier in the day however it was hesitating quite badly which I think was probably rich and retard, as soon as I put it back down a bit it was happy to rev nicely all the way up..

anyone else got any ideas on what it could be.. maybe it's time to check the voltage on the O2 sensor and maybe look at SAFCII

Don't worry too much about it Links. All R33's do it when you run 10psi. The stock ECU is way too overprotective. It will do it on lower boost settings as well on cold nights.

Put a GTT or front mount intercooler (justjap have some bargins in the Business for sale forums) and just ditch the stock ECU for a powerFC and you will get rid of all those hesitation/overboost/r&r problems and you can run 10psi safely full time.

Thanks Sewid - i'll take a look at them.. currently have to buy a couple of household things before the car gets any new items.. might just have to take it easy on the boost..

i'm gonna take out the O2 sensor and give it a good ol' clean and shake to see if it's still ok - it was working last time I had a consult cable in it..

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
