^^^ What he said, It's best way because insurance for younger driver like us (18-25) is bullshit (18 y.o. in stocko brand new corolla = $2,500 a year for car worth 20k), along with stupidly high cost of excess (around $1500 depending on cover), thats means not worth to make a claim if you crash the car like r32 if it's worth 10k, do search, there's information about insurance in this site somewhere that makes good read.

Good tip is get 3rd party (fire and theft) save your hard earned dollars aside for breakages, repairs to the car as it is very common for cars that is aged. At least, it's much better than driving without a insurance.

Best of luck of getting R32 GTS-t I'm sure the turbo power will bring smile to your face everytime you start the engine!

Cheers

1500 excess?!?! well thats the point I needed......seems kinda point less now, because if i crash thats 3400 plus 1500.....nearlly 5 grand.......which in the most realistic case of and accident, would be more then enough to cover the damage

With CTP Third Party Property with Fire And Theft option, would i be facing a larger then normal cost....or are the prices down to earth?

and for that turbo power.....it sure did bring a smile to my face.....which is the reason im upgrading from the VS!

Fire and theft for any car is around 300-500 bucks, doesnt matter if its HSV/Skyline/WRX or whatever. After all your car is only covered for those two things and I think if you also smash into someones house and end up with a million dollar bill, although Id check it out with the insurance comp cos as far as I know there are two types of third party covers.

Yes, there are two types of third party

You've got the one that comes with registration, which is Third Party, which basically means if you smash into someones car, and they get injured and its your fault, it means that the insurance company will cover the cost of the operation, but not the car

The other is Third Party Property, its really just an add-on to the above, so if u wreck there car it'll cover for that as well, and the fire and theft means they'll cover you if your car catchs on fire(if your bad enough to let that happen), or gets stolen it will also cover you to the market value

So no matter what i drive, even if its a turbocharged and supercharged W16 Monster, will not effect the cost of the CTP? if so thats really good news :(

yeah give em a call or log online justcar.com.au and do an online app for third party and see how much they charge.

The royal automobile club of WA (RAC) were going to charge me $203 for 3rd party on an R32GTS-t and i'm 19, from my searching it's a fairly decent price. Really if your'e wondering how much it's gona cost just spend 20mins n make some calls to insurance co's they will give quotes and a pretty close idea of the costs involved...

Cheers

fire and theft prices can vary quite a bit

when i was 18, to insure my stock non turbo TX5 with AAMI third party fire and theft was $450 ish.

with the mods (rims, lowering etc) it had to go through just cars, and they wanted something like $700 for the same cover.

also, its market value up to $5000. not actual market value. and dont go by what you paid...ACTUAL market value is almost certain to be substantially less than what people will pay for a car

yes, the market value is never what the car is really worth,

as for the Royal Automobile club of WA charging 200 something.....i assume this means id have to a member and live in WA? because Just Cars Insurance quoted me for about 450 with Fire and Theft cover.....and tahts a substantially higher price then that of the RACWA, would this be the same for the RACQ?

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
