Air Conditioning Clutch

hey guys the clutch for my aircon has been bung since the car was in the country...

basically

i been without aircon for a while and today was nice n warm n i got to thinkin "gee, i want my aircon"

i tried repco they said my best bet would be to phone nissan for the clutch...

nissan quoted me FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!!

so i said, forget you pal... THANKS FOR NOTHING.

anyone know where i can get the said part?

to be honest Hud i couldn't give any details at all cos i don't even know what the aircon clutch is, i'll try to find out but i really know nothing about the aircon side of cars...

i'll try to find out though, i'm having a bit of trouble though, thanks anyway!

thats what i was thinking 'aircon clutch' okaaay... but if you've been told its there its gotta be right... that means i gotta have one too lol!!!

i thought main things for aircon (just guessing) would be extra thermo / extra lines / aircon condensor (which i dont even think i had lol) ?

would be easyet to buy a complete a/c compresssor off a rb20

more then likely a31/r32 etc will have the same comprsssor

the ac clutch is the thing that engages when you turn your ac on its behind the pulley on the compressor. since the compressor is constantly driven by the fan belts, when you turn your ac on, the clutch engages, and the compressor gets spun instead of just the pulley free spinning

since im typing, any of you guys that use the ac, make sure you switch it off before shutting the engine, or at least make sure it's not on when you start the car, cos if its on, then the battery not only has to spin the starter motor, it also has to spin the compressor, basically reducing the life of a battery by about half...learnt that from working with NRMA battery services (they told me not to tell no one, so ppl can keep buying batteries )

yeh mine is making a bitching sqeeking noise when the air con is on. sounds like theres a dying rabbit in my engine bay So i dont use it very often.

that means the pulley that holds the belt needs to be adjusted, it's no biggie... it's just fallen into itself and it's slipping as a result

apparantly there is a difference between turbo n non turbo

my car being non turbo...
