Cheap Waste Gates

just wondering if anyone here is running the cheap ebay wastegates goin around, or are these like the cheap ebay bov,s with all sorts of dodgy springs ect ect, cheers guys

such an integral part to the turbocharger system why would u want to skimp on a cheap item like that for the sake of saving $100 or so?

well ill probly buy a tial from racespec , but its worth to ask i guess..

yeah understand just i would have to have a nice engine build done with new injectors, exhaust, turbocharger etc that would cost like $5k and then fit a cheap $150 wasteagate to have it lock or fail and fry a cylinder.

dont go near it. too many risky products around.

Poor springs, lazy diaphragms etc. Last thing you want to have hassle you.

Ive used turbosmart gates as has most i know for a long time.

Very good and never missed a beat.

Cant say that about thier boost controllers though

Mr Nismoid, has hit the nail right on the head

The cheaper COPY gates have poorly designed diaphragms and springs, which will cause instant disaster if something goes wrong.

Thats why Garrett, TiAL and Turbosmart are at the forefront of such technology.

Garrett has since pulled away and now promotes TiAL as their favoured product, as we do aswell.

there was a guy down at bel who had bought a packaged china made turbo, manifold and wastegate.

I do believe the wastegate blew after 8 runs on the dyno. And yes, it was well and t ruly F UCKED

Buy yourself a genuine TIAL and save yourself the hassles
