why?

what motors would you like to include?

remembering we are sports compact. its not about big engine displacement?

mick

I'm just trolling mate.....

I don't have any real complaints anyway as that rule counts me out straight away (4.5L 6cyl). I'm limited to ET brackets or Compact extreme, but at least I can have a go.

Sean :)

Maybe we could index Sport Rear to 10.00, it would force all the big guns up into Sport Mod. Not that rule change would suit me, as i plan on having a 10 sec car for as little time possible.

Does anybody have a rule change suggestion that doesn't directly influence their race car??

As per my post, I think 3 rotors should be included, as in Cosmos 20B. There is no class for them at the moment.

I don't have a non OEM gearbox, so the rule change suggestion doesn't affect my car directly.

:) cheers ;)

Just what we need - Sport Mod as the Super Gas of Sport Compact....

Adrian

I can see a brief overview would be helpful. ANDRA is split into four groups:

Group One: Pro start (one flash of ambers then green). Everyone starts at the same time, the first one to the finish line wins. Real drag racing.

Top Fuel, Top Doorsmaller, Pro Stock, Top Alcohol, Top Bike, Pro Stock Bike.

Group Two: Full tree start, class indexes. This is a bit complicated, but basically a national class index (ie an ET) is set. If a competitor runs under the class index, an Index Control is applied to their personal index, being half the difference between their ET and the class index. So if the class index is 8.50 and you run 8.00, then for the next round your index will be 8.25. The first to the finish line wins, but you always have your index in the back of your mind.

Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Competition Bike, Supercharged Outlaws.

Group Three: Full tree start, individually nominated handicaps (Dial Your Own DYO). The most common form of drag racing, this is where you nominate your dial in and the tree stars each racer according th their dial in (ie the racer with the slower ET dial in will go earlier than the other racer). The first to the finish line wins, except if you go under your dial in (ie your ET is quicker than your dial in ET) which is called a break out. If you break out you lose.

Modified Eliminator, Super Sedan, Super Street, Modified Bike, Junior Dragster.

Group Four: Pro start, fixed class index of 9.900. Super Gas is a special class all on it's own allowing a pro start and with a fixed index of 9.900. If you run quicker than 9.900 then you break out and lose. Lots of veruy good racers in this class.

In the Sport Compact family of ANDRA we have:

Sportsman Classes (DYO): This is where SFWD, SRWD, AM, FR, OM and SM lie. All DYO handicap starts, each with their own class rules. Equivalent to Group Three classes (in fact they are SS/BB and SS/CC direct equivalents).

Pro Classes (Pro Start): PRO/F and PRO/R. Pro start, equivalent to Group One Pro Stock.

ET Bracket (DYO): Unqualified Sports Compact Sportsman cars go here to die.

Regarding potential changes to SM (Sport Modified) class, either a class index with full tree/DYO or a fixed index with Pro Start are options. Sport Compact is in it's infancy and promoters, spectators, racers and ANDRA want to see regular larger fields before they start getting fussy and potentially scaring off new competitors.

DYO is all about  preventing racing becoming too expensive for most to compete.

DYO can have it's own moments of excitement, but there's something intrinsically wrong with sandbagging, buttoning off and braking during a drag race.

In my experience 99% of spectators do not understand DYO or the handicap starts. If they were better educated they might understand some of the excitement as the quicker car tries to hunt down his competitor and all the drama about should I or shouldn't I at the top end.

totally agree

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
