A friends car was parked at his work in Newcastle when the storm hit, only a few hail marks on his 2003 Camry and the repair bill is $6500?? Seems a bit steep, considering there is probably only 20 dents all up on boot/roof/bonnet. Insurance covers it, but surely paintless dent removal would be the way to go for most of the dents.

Those are some mad photos, you should have had a crack at getting some mad lightning shots

Yeah i saw the lightning the whole trip up and through sydney, but couldn't click while driving. would have been easy, they were going off every 2 seconds

yea my car was very lucky the gf works at canberra hospital i rang her about 15 minutes before the storm hit saying get my car undercover she is like ok. She moved it then 10 minutes later the storm hit the hospital, she said she saw a roof come off the appartments across the road, tress getting shreaded plus the hospital was evacuated. Then when it had blown over 4 of the people she worked with had smashed windscreens and windows... so in conclusion she only just managed to get the car out of the storm.

    • Alarm installs, always great to look at 🥲 Then these alarm installers then go and do automotive looms and they end up being a crock of shit.
    • Photo quality is terrible, but there's a few things on that board that give me suspicions it has some issues. Add to that, I'm hoping the cut and exposed wires under the dash were not exposed or touching each other before you pulled that all apart.

    • update; Replaced oem starter motor with a Jaylec 70-61111 car still didn't start, moved over to the alarm system unraveled the spaghetti checked the solder end points, PCB board burn smell, wiring ends, capacitors, water damage everything looked fine restarted car vroom. restarted 5 to 6 time over an hour started put every thing back together only to not have it start any more. looks like i will be removing the alarm system next weekend.
    • Lots of people. Could be a lot of things like people have said. Either the heater hose/pipe, the turbo coolant return that wraps around the back of the engine, or a core plug. I have seen all three. If you want me to guess wildly though I would bet it's one of those hoses for the turbo coolant return. Or the brazing/welding for the Y- section has failed. Get a borescope down there to be 100% sure.
