not really pointless. When i was trying to get it working i would have payed someone just to give me straight answer as to whether they got it working or if it worked. And now everyone has a straight answer

YESS IT WORKS.

just make sure you use zener diodes that 666DAN sorted out. Make sure all connections are solid and make sure you use field harness and it is properly connected to ECU.

and asuming you have a emanage what are your thoughts on it compared to other aftermarket ecu's? wolf etc?

are there many benifits of the ultimate over the normal blue emanage, and do you recomend the full wiring loom kit or just the cut and solder kit? cheers

So is there still a coil issue even with the ultimate?

Well good news all you auto skyline owners the emanage ultimate works with the Automatic skyline Gearbox.

John keene from HiTech dyno centre got mine working!!!!!

WOOOOHOOOOO!

Excellent news.

How long has it been running for?

How many k's?

What's the dyno results look like?

:) cheers :O

PS; if less than a month and 1,000 k's it might be a bit early to jump. One ran for 2 weeks OK, then just stopped, dead coils and ignitor.

Guys as mentioned before the other option is now the bikirom megaboard, I've got one fitted to my current auto R34. www.bikirom.com

Should be good for stageas as well.

Great news Chris...I could tell from you e-mails you were starting to get stressed, which is understandable. At least it looks fairly promising now!

mad34 - what was the end cost of the Emanage Ultimate (installed and tuned)

666Dan - same question for you but regarding the bikirom?

SK - If the unit works initially without any faults, what would cause the breakdown after a few weeks?

SK - If the unit works initially without any faults, what would cause the breakdown after a few weeks?

The problem with the EManage to date has been its poor matching of the load and trigger signals to the ignitor and coils. Several modifications have been tried, including the voltage limiting zenner diode mod. This mod enabled the EManage to fire the ignitor/ignitors, so the engine would at least run. But there were still issues with dwell angle, impedance, decay time etc. So the ignitors/coils worked for a short time, sometimes hours, sometimes days, and they then failed completely.

Having heard success claimed several times, only to be disappointed, I don't think it's a good idea to jump in until at least a month and 1,000 k's or so have elapsed. If the engine still runs fine and performs perfectly after that time and distance, I feel we can safely use the product.

:D cheers :(

Dont say that guys i hope it works after 1000k's it should, it bloody better or i will shit bricks ;P. hahahahaha Dont make me paranoid!

Those zeners that 666Dan has sussed out will work as the guy who fitted it checked everything. he measured standard voltage and then voltage after the emanage was fitted and they were different. he said the zeners did fix the problem.

By the way thanks Again Dan.

Satanic-the cost of purchase and fitting was quite high around $1700. I still have to get pressure sensor and harness too so thats another $170 so id say all up $2000.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Bikirom Megaboard will only work with series 2 NEO Stageas, the series 1 has a similar ECU to the R33, but i have inspected my ECU and found it has a external Eprom which the R33 ECU doesn't have, i talked to BadBiki and showed him a pic of it and he agreed that it might be possible to adapt the Megaboard to the series 1 stagea ECU.

Only problem is finding someone with the knowledge to nut it out, as BadBiki is too busy.

Anyone interested :D

Yeah Chris, car still going fine? I assmume it would be, my e-manage was running for over a year with no problems, worked so good someone stole it!!! (industrial espionage for sure haha)

Satanic - I've had the bikirom in for a little bit now, no dramas with compatibility whatsoever, I'll have a dyno graph fairly soon as Sam (Dr Drfit) will be in town, so I'll let him loose on my car.

My Cars ignition still breaks up a little when its warm and when i have been driving it hard. My std coils are on their way out. so i ordered some splifires they have arrived i just have to fit them now. also i have got the pressure sensor harness going in so i can run more boost without upsetting the afm. that should all be done in the next few days. i will let you all know.

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
