Hello im after getting some extractors for my r32 skyline na, i want to increase performance slightly without going the whole turbo conversion.

How much power gain do extractors give roughly? which are good value for money? What kind of prices?

I have an apexi n1 exhaust system on the car already, just want to add to that.

Anymore ideas? :starwars:

Im in adelaide by the way, :)

have you tryed a seach? there is a thread about extractors for a rb25de on the 1st page of the na forums. have a look on there to find a little more info

i paid 275nz dollas i think from memory for some COBY extractors

yes they are well worth the money and you will feel the difference

rb20 is pretty much the same as a rb25 for the extractor threads.

you can buy them in NZ easy as. there is a parts site that is listed in the other thread that exports extractors.

prehaps you aussies need to organise some group buy on them?

really so rb25 extractors would probably fit straight on to an rb20de? :)

if anyone has some websites or prices could they let me know? Cheers!

www.partsco.com have them for the 2 litre. Around $240 plus $100 for freight to oz. Just wish I'd heat wrapped mine b4 fitting...

haha yeah i wish i had too... live and learn i guess. the sunburn on my lower back made driving painfull for the next week or 2 haha.

hopfully when i get my custom rb30 extractors ill heat wrap them before fitting too.

hello again, i'm after getting these in adelaide can anyone recommend a good place to get them? also ...

How come some people say you should really heat wrap them?

How much/how hard is it to heatwrap them, is there really a benefit in doing this?

Thanks!! :P

heat wraping helps keep some more heat outa your engine bay. um you heat wrap them yourself. i paid $50 for like 50'x1" of it.

i have heard people say do and some people dont. my new extractors arnt heatwrapped as the exhuast guy who i know well said dont do it as the heat gets held in the metal longer and they become brittle or somthing.

you can always get them heat coated.

you could get some custom extractors made up? mine cost me $650 all up as i got them to do some other work on the car as well.

hey mate - seriously no one can answer all your questions exactly, best way is to do some homework and make some phone calls.

rb25de extractors should fit an rb20de

as some people above have stated, there are possible pros and cons in heatwrapping extractors - that is entirely up to you.

partsco sell extractors - but if you want a price you are better off calling them or emailing and asking for a quote. (coby, hurricane, fujitsibo, there's quite a few brands out there)

you can also make custom extractors (muffler shop should be able to do it) - probably using your original flanges, and again the amount of power it adds can be anything, because they are custom.

i think you're looking at this whole "extractors how much power do they give?" a little one dimensionally. from what i have read and what other people have told me, extractors give allow better breathing and flow of exhaust gases.

you may/may not see much change in any max power (or dyno power read out). instead you might find a more drivable and chunkier/fatter mid range. there is no rule of thumb as to how much more max power you will get, but i would hazard a guess at ~5-10kw

eug

Cool thanks that's answered all of my questions actually, and yeah im going to make a few phone calls but i'm just wondering if ordering interstate will be a good idea rather than local. Most people say coby are the best, so perhaps i might go for them unless anyone has another brand they know are great as well?

cheers

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
